Alfa styrofoam testimonials anyone?

Post by olifant » Thu Dec 11, 2008 9:44 pm

I am very seriously considering ordering one of the Alfa twin engine styro models, either the Beaufighter (great price), Mosquito (!) or Mitchell (!$!) but would love if anyone could give me a pro/con of these models.

Just on price I am leaning towards the Beaufighter, plus it looks like a simple assembly. The Mitchell looks fabulous but much more complicated to build if I buy the detailed version. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew, especially if it is my first effort. Of course when the wife sees it I may not get a chance at a second buy!

Thanks in advance.

the mosquito and mitchell are by flying styro not alfa.

i have the beaufighter and mitchel and both are quite nice with the b-25 definitely being more work to put together but it is prepainted.

Foam texture on all of them is subtle. Mosquito is way too big at almost 1/13 scale.....unless there's a new one i don't know about, which i doubt.

I recommend them though; not likely to see the subject matter anywhere else and they're nice models.

Thanks aferg. Isn't the Beaufighter prepainted though? The Hobbylobby site shows pics of it pre-camoflauged.

yes it is.....they all are.......i was just mentioning the b-25 in particular to let you know some of the work is done for you. It's mostly detail work that needs doing.
