Help with 1:18 21st Cent. Warhawk version please

Post by oxfordlawn » Fri Dec 05, 2008 7:46 am

What I have is a 1:18 21st Century Warhawk with part # 10163. I have tried to research what version but the box mine is in doesnt match other pictures I see around the web now. Mine has a copyright date of 2003 on end flap, the fuselage has a white "47" , hells angels and RT Smith pilots name. The box is blue and has lighter blue stripes near top of box. It is a XD model , I just cant seem to match it to anything I can find at this time. Help me out PLEEEASE and is there more value to this model than more recent newer ones I do see on the web?

I feel like i'm on "Antique Roadshow" waiting to see what I have and the value :?

Thank You
Tom OBrien :)

I am not certain, but you probably have the original plane and box. It was re-released this year in a Special Edition Box.

After doing some more looking around, It seems the only thing this plane must be is the original release of this P-40 RT Smith pilot plane. I saw an article on how Toys-R-Us rushed the re-release of this model but it wasnt specific if it was the same plane just reboxed..but do you all agree that this is the 1st release (2003) of this plane in the original box? any value?
Should I e-bay it?

Thanks
Tom OBrien

I doubt it is worth more than about 40 dollars as you can get them still in TRU for that. But yeah- its probably the original in a different box.

I think that this was the first release that was sold by e-talers. The first release was by Motorworks. The name given when 21st sold them at Walmarts. The e-talers sold this for $59. The Motorworks sold for $39.94. The price went to an all time high of about $89 . A year or so back. The Motorworks at about $69. You can get them around $69 now. The British version went for higher money. Over $100.

John Wayne : Mine was taller

There was a time when the Motorworks AVG planes brought well over a hundred bucks on ebay but those days are long gone now. Especially with the special addition (of a box).. 21st should've done all their planes in "special addition" boxes if they were just gonna release it in one anyways...

Excellent, just wanted to say thank you for the responses...so do y'all think it's worth holding onto as a collectible or should I sell it off....will value hold, go up or down since it's been re-released in a different box. This is new territory for me and I love the input from experienced collectors on these issues..Thank You !!
