Haven't seen anyone talking about this so thought I would bring it to your attention. See link:

Looks great...but $525 + shipping, OUCH! Too pricey for me, at least for now.

There's a FW 190 on there for $700 too. I'll get them if I win the lottery tonight. Really, no way would I ever spend $700 but IF I could get together 525, I might consider buying that Hurricane. But with the economy and the Holidays fast approaching......

I wish one of the custom guys/companies could do stuff like this with armor. I imagine it would be cheaper too.

I have to say that these airplanes are outstanding quality, but way out of most people's price range. Im in trouble if I spend 70.00, let alone 700.00! I wish they could be made in a way that would make them affordable for the working guys who have kept this hobby going over the years. We have all seen the price creep steadily up, but hundreds of dollars is way over the top IMHO.
"I can stop collecting 1:18 scale anytime, really I can. OOoh, the new Stuka re-paint! I don't have that one.

You're not comparing apples to apples. Remember, this isn't a big toy company, this is ONE guy doing all this work. Not sure if he got a helper hired yet or not but that would only make it TWO guys! Customizing especially molding and casting new parts is quite expensive & then there's the labor involved. The Komet and Hurricane are totally new airframes from the ground up so he has to mold and cast everything!. I have a small fortune invested in my one custom so I can attest to the extreme cost and especially pickel can. Come on, it's not like you just walked into a store where that particular XD plane was $40 last week and now it's $500... I guess it's like comparing Hobby Master to Motormax, big price difference, huge quality and realism difference.

I saw the mention of a modern jet in the works reading through the commentary of the Hurricane page. I wonder what modern jet they are working on?

With his WWII planes priced at $500 plus, could you imagine how much an A-10 would cost? It would be sweet though. Not sure if this has been brought up but since it seems that $500 plus 1/18 planes are out of the budget for most people including myself, has anyone thought of offering them as kits? Trumpeter and Airfix have 1/24 scale kits out there for pretty reasonable prices if you shop around, and if you own a Trumpeter kit you know the awesome amount of detail they offer. I am just curious if this may be a way to keep prices realistic and keep the hobby alive.

Looks like Skyworks has almost completed their Hawker Hurricane except for a few missing pieces.

It looks awesome. Hats off to them for creating a beautiful looking 1/18 model that has never been done before.

My gosh. I guess you get what you pay for considering how much work has gone into development (and the bloody size of the thing!), and I'm willing to bet the production run will be small enough to make it extremely collectible. I have the same Hurricane II in 1:72 (one of the Corgis) and I have to say they picked a great subject for the first release in the series.

That looks fantastic! $500 for a totally new 1/18th aircraft with that level of accuracy and that is NOT mass-produced in a factory in China is a hell of a bargain.

Much cheaper or easier than trying to build one yourself from scratch.

Besides, i think it's time to put our money where our mouth is. We whine for new stuff all the time and often ask, why oh why our hobby is slowly dying.

Well here ya go. a *New* plane. Not a re-paint. But a completely new, and a sought-after aircraft.

I simply do not have the income necessary to justify paying that much money for a model, as awesome as it is.

A decent model for forty or fifty bucks a pop is the reason I participate in this hobby at all, as I'm guessing is the case with a lot of people here on the forum.

Five hundred and above is a niche market inside of a niche market.

Over 500 plus shipping is crazy! I bought a Komet for 325 and that took alot of convincing myself to get. That is pretty much the ceiling for me unless its a plane I am dying to get. I'd love to get a Hurricane but would need to serioulsy save money over time - lots of time. 700 plus - never.

Well put googly! I don't think the price is crazy at all. I'd love to have one but with all the projects I've got going currently there is just no way right now, heck I've recently spent that in mold rubber and resin just for one project to give folks an idea how expensive it is to create something new. I do intend however to get a Hurricane and Komet, hopefully soon after the holiday's when money is a little more freed up. :D

Guess I need a job where you guys work if 500-700 bucks for a plane isn't crazy. Nice planes (I'd love a Hurricane as I stated), just for rich people - at least richer than I. Hell, 700 plus shipping, that is almost my monthly mortgage payment. With the economy, can't imagine those will sell well.

Ehhh...crazy? It's one thing to say that a particular item is beyond your means, and that's perfectly understandable, considering how things are these days.

But seriously. Try and fabricate one from the ground up. Ask people who have done so. Ask them whether a $500 price tag for a plane that's individually made, and hand painted by 1-2 guys (and from the looks of it, the paint job is masterfully done) is "crazy"

And as VMF pointed out, especially with the level of detail such as this:
