I was just at a TRU here locally and found BBI weapons packs for World War 2. Anyone seen these yet?

Two sets... One has BAR, .50 Cal. and stuff like that. The other set has a small green wagon, .50 cal. ammo cans, Grease Gun, M1, Thompson, and some grenades and stuff. I got the latter set.

What is the deal with the wagon though? It's cool but I don't recall what it's point is unless it's something paras dropped in with and used to haul ammo around? It seems perfect for that.

Has anyone seen the BBI helicopter pilot Harris or Delta Force figures at ToysRUs?

No way I can post one short of a Cellie Phone... You ain't gonna like that though.

I've already opened it... The cart is just a 2 wheeled cart, rubber wheels on it... It has some weird rope things that attach to it like for 2 other guys off the "T-Handle" bit to help pull it somewhere...

The other set was incredibly dull just having a .50 Cal., Mortar, and some other weapons (I believe an M1, a BAR, etc.). The set with the wagon is the set I think people will want.

Did Paras land with a wagon to haul around their stuff though? I'm curious.

If I can manage a pic somehow I will. Cam's at my gf's though, and I never bring it home with me.

Nix that Aferg, I dug in the garbage till I found the cardback and scanned the back... You can't see the rope thingies well is all, but they're there.

Here's the image of the 2 sets:

Here is a pic of a swiss pony cart that looks very similar to the cart on the cardback minus the handle:

Great find!
It's an WWII U.S. M3A4 Airborne Hand Cart.

Here the scoop on the cart:

Looks like it can be customized a number of ways.

A buttload of uses from D-Day to N. Africa to Paratroopers and such. I'm digging that. I may have to get a couple more sets now.

Glad I could get a pic posted... It's a neat, obscure little piece we got there out of BBI.

BBI just put out those repainted infantry/paras recently so I never counted them out, this is just a bit of a surprise is all.

Again, has anyone seen any modern figures, particularly helicopter pilot Harris, at ToysRUs?

Saw the new weapon sets from BBI. The set with the cart looked interesting. Can those carts be hooked up to a horse like the IJ one for example?

If you futzed with it, I'm sure it could be...

Dragon, I've not seen those figures for at least some months. I seem to recall they got clearanced. Our stores only have the D-Day repaints and $7.99 paratroopers with jump gear.

new sets

Post by digger » Thu Oct 23, 2008 12:32 am

The cart is cool but overall the sets are sad - it is all the weapons and gear we have so much of from the earlier bbi figures. It was always great that the bbi figs came with a lot of stuff, but now there is no need for a weapons set releasing the same things. How about a Springfield, or even some more carbines...I have tons of the bazookas, mortars, Thompsons, Garands, .45s and Grease guns from bbi already.

Agreed Dig...

I would love to see someone take a leap and actually make some really appealing weapons sets...

For that matter, how about some belts and webbing ala Dragons stuff? Sniper rifles for sure would be appreciated as there isn't one for any side at this point... Maybe some gear for other nationalities just to tease people? Some helmets would be neat too, like maybe some with foliage sculpted to them, or netting, or wiring, etc. What about some sets of goggles, maps, shoulder bags, map tubes, ration packs, "food" items (loaves of bread, wheels of cheese, bottles, etc.), a .30 Cal., a tri-pod MG34 or 42, or some Panzerfausts and landmines of all types?

There's a lot of things BBI could give us. I dig the cart though, I really do... There's just a ton of things we need. What about German ammo cans with handles up so we can have some guys running with ammo? What about belts of ammo, perhaps ones sculpted to be slung over people's necks/shoulders? Or better yet, flexible ones somehow.

There's a ton of things they could do that wasn't the "same old same old".

Still, it's something new and that's at least a good sign itself.

Yes, you would think if they can tool and manufacture a cart that a couple of weapons we haven't seen before or even some miscellaneous gear of some kind wouldn't be that hard to pull off.

JESSE JAMES:

Thanks for the info. It looks like online or SSHQ Buy/Sell is the only alternative for modern BBI figures.

Stopped at TRU today and the same 1:18 story here. BBI figures and weapon sets. XD Patton, Tanker, Buldge, OMG figures..... a couple of P40B "Flying Tigers", Stuka Zu Fuss, Sd. Kfz 251/22 Hanomag - Pak 40. I think that was about it! Picked up the BBI Cart weapons pack.

Found the BBI Weapons packs at both the Fresno and Clovis, CA TRUs. BBI timed these well with the re-release of the WWII figures and the already-existing paratroopers.

For the most part they are nothing remarkable - I've got tons of M1s, BARs, Bazookas, tommyguns, .50 MGs, mortars and all the little grenades and mortar rounds from the various BBI WWII figures I've accumulated - and those were not translucent green

I got the one with the cart as technically that is a new "vehicle" from BBI 8)

Nice, I'm glad BBI is making 1:18 weapons sets, I always wonder why 21CT never did so. Now I hope we get a modern weapon sets next, I need more SAWs for my projects.

I'd say go with www.marauderinc.com for the SAWs. BBI's always looked pretty freakin' huge to me anyhow.
