I finally found the Big Lots camels and horses

Post by dandaman » Thu Sep 18, 2008 9:34 pm

Well, I finally found the camels and horses at a random Big Lots. They had tons of them on the shelf for $3 a piece. I love them both. They are very well done. The figures that come with them are poor, but at least the camel rider comes with some binoculars.

The figures may lack the 'detail' of XD, FOV, bbi, but these guys CAN fit in their vehicles, CAN ride that horse or camel, CAN ride a motorcycle, CAN SIT upright-no 'lean-to's' here, CAN kneel without having to take their legs off to put on a 'kneeling'set of legs, SO DON'T THROW THEM AWAY!!
Throw them my way :D

i have found some of the PTE figures very useful for making some difficult to do poses. I switched heads, put on bbi gear, did some paint work and they look pretty good and are in poses i don't think i could do with bbi figures and definitely not with 21c figures. I used them for fast roping down my black hawk, sitting cross legged firing a javelin anti tank missile, squatting, lying prone with an elevated torso etc.

For more relaxed poses i used the bbi figures because they look better but the PTE figures definitely have their uses. They are also good for using as drivers, pilots etc because they fit better and since they're partially obscured by the vehicle anyway, it doesn't matter that they aren't as detailed and i can save using a more expensive bbi figure and use it for something else.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Honestly, that was my very first thought. Then I remembered I could give them to my (destructive) nephews to play with. Toddlers love chew toys.

Yes, the PTE camel and horse are some of my favortie pieces from the series, particularly the camels. The horse is as well-articulated as the Hasbro Indiana Jones animal and the camels simply look great with any middle-eastern setup. I currently use the camels as my Afghani warrior's "vehicles"

I've posted these pictures before, but these are the reasons why I think the PTE camels and horses are some of the best items in that lineup. They simply go great with the BBI and 21c 1:18 figures 8)

BTW, I gave most of the PTE figures I accumulated from various sets to some young students I teach. They love them

Camels

Post by dandaman » Mon Oct 20, 2008 12:25 am

Has anyone modified one of these to be an "attack camel"? Bazookas on the sides, gatling gun on top, etc.

I would love to see pics.
