Comic Con 2005 - Prepare for a major announcement soon...
Latest word is that the sub opens to the public on May 28th. In the meantime, it is docked next to the other ships so it can be viewed close up. In fact, the stealthy, menacing, black shape of the Soviet sub appears to be stalking the 18th century Royal Navy Frigate H.M.S Surprise (from Master & Commander) docked directly in front of it. Makes for an interesting picture!
The recently added USS Midway is also developing into a nice museum with a nice compliment of aircraft on the hangar deck (about 15) and a good audio tour.
For those of you fellow aviation buffs, check out the San Diego Aerospace Museum while you are here. It covers the history of flight from balloons to space exploration. They have a nice selection of restored aircraft including: PBY Catalina, F-4, Mig-15, F-86, Hellcat, Spitfire, Huey Cobra, P-40, P-51, Zero, BF109G, Ford Tri-motor, WWI (Spad, Fokker Triplane, etc.). Engine displays, spacecraft and spacesuits. A very nice museum. They even have some XD aircraft in the giftshop (I saw checker corsairs and P-40's I think).

Here's my 'personal' gallery from Comic Con 2005... this mostly has Star Wars and pictures of the people I was with... but it'll give you an idea of what it's like there: - http://bobafettmp.com/Temp/Galleries/co ... ndex2.html
And then same thing... 2003 gallery (this was before I got the professional DSLR camera) - http://bobafettmp.com/Temp/Galleries/co ... index.html

Now Kurt, weren't you bidding on that one? If you won it would you still want it mass produced & ruin some of the grandier of having a "one of a kind".?.. I hope they never make it regardless if it showed up on ebay again and brought $2000 or $2, it was a prototype and needs to stay that way. Just my opinion.KWR190 wrote:Im with hworth18 on that one for the people that cant make it just look at the 109 on ebay for 560 they should offer them later on so all of there fans can pick one up. It makes better customer relations in my opinion

BTW, the checker Corsair and the shark Lightning weren't QVC exclusives. These were just new releases 21st placed for their QVC debut. Several online retailers had them available for preorder. QVC was the place to get'em first.

Is this sub the one that was being sold on E-Bay down in Florida a couple years ago?? I forgot what the starting bid was.......Gunner wrote:The Russian Sub was transferred down from Seattle. She just arrived a few weeks ago. She's not yet open for tours.
She's the same class (Foxtrot) as the sub in Long Beach. I've been aboard SCORPION (the sub in Long Beach). It was interesting.

No, that was a Juliette-class missile boat. She's now on display in Providence, RI after doing a tour of duty as K-19 in the Harrison Ford movie. Is this sub the one that was being sold on E-Bay down in Florida a couple years ago??
The Juliette is a GREAT boat to go see if you are ever in New England.
In fact, it's a MUST SEE, if you are interested in submarines at all...
