1/18 FOV and XD Weapons and Gear

Post by dandaman » Mon Aug 11, 2008 9:03 pm

I am not really big on FOV (compared to XD) so I don't know the answer to this.

How well do FOV weapons and gear integrate with XD figures? Like the panzerfaust and whatnot. Are they exactly the correct scale?

On a similar note, how well do your FOV figures look on display with your XD troops? Are they an eye sore? Or do they fit in?

I want to get everyone's opinion on how well the two lines mix. I was thinking about getting some more FOV for the bazooka type weapons, but if they look sorry with the XD, then forget it.

Personally, I love the FOV line and I've seen no issues with comparing them with my xd. Some of the weapons aren't quite to scale with the xd ones however with the apperent shortage of new xd I believe most of us are taking what we can get to fill this gap. Any time Tankgirl and I are at target I run back to the toy isle and snatch up any of the FOV German figs. I would love to see FOV come out with another WW2 wave. That would be awesome!!!! 8)

I like the FOV figures too. My only drawback on them are that their stands are a bit too 'rubbery' and the figures tend to fall over. I also have one German who's face paint is rubbing off under the helmet.

I prefer the FOV figures to the 21C mainly for the accessories. Unfortunately the line is not very 'deep' at the moment. I think they mix very well with XD.

I think you should forget XD for now, and go with FOV, they are much more realistic looking in my opinion

The gear and uniforms is a little more accurate on the XD Germans. The guns suck on both. You should re equip both lines of figures with Dragon weapons, and gear if you can. I think the FOV US troops mix better than the FOV Germans do. Their legs are too long, and their web gear is all farked up.
Personally, I take a razor blade to the belts on the XD trooper, and replace them with the removable gear from the Dragon Germans. Then, I swap the heads on those XD troops with heads from the FOV, BBI, and Dragon figures.
All in all, I'm not a fan of the FOV figures. I can't stand how their guns are too small, and how they're legs are all too long. Also, their legs are pretty Frankenstein-ish. Their bodies can't hold any realistic poses like the XD articulated figures do.

Unless you like to customize your figures (heavily), I feel that the FOV figures stand out much more...and appear far more "toyish."
I looked at the trap, Ray.
