A good idea for future figures ???
I'd suggest this to 21st C, but I think they'd reject it because of the poor sales in the platoon figures But I think it would be nice to see a custom line of WWII figures of charactors from the major WWII movies It'd be nice to see both American and german soldiers come out that look like the major charactors from say: The Dirty Dozen, Kelly's Heros, Bridge at Regman, The Iron Cross( I know Dragon did the "Stiener" figure), D-day, Where Eagles Dare, To Hell and back, Saving Private Ryan, etc. DO you guys and gals think this would be a good seller ??? Would you buy these figures if made ??? Do you think if it's a good idea we should bring it before 21st C's PR people ??? Just a good idea that's been brewin' in my head the last few weeks Da General

I doubt that most collectors are desirous to fork over cash due to such likenesses being represented on 1:18 scale figures. Cost would probably be higher due to licensing requirements. The question is "would the general public go after it?" and I would also doubt that citing your example of poor Platoon figure sales.

I agree, that licensing fees would push selling price too high for the 1/18 "general public".
1/6 has a steady flow of movie and TV figures, by simply adding one of the decent custom heads that are around and then you kitbash the uniform and weapons on a generic body.
A steady market for 1/6 movie figs include, The Duke (Iwo Jima and VN), Rommel and Aliens Marines and all kinds of Georgie Patton's, some good some bad, (a personal favorite... I have seven Patton's at last count..).
For 1/18, a pose-able and decent guy is all I want...

If you ask me, the US Officer with the Thompson from the first wave of 21st figures looked like Tom Hanks from SPR in the press photos. Of course, the released version suffered from quality issues, and didn't look so much like him, but still resembled him very much so.
I know that's not entirely on topic, but, it was a thought that came to mind, hah.

I looked at the trap, Ray.

I'd be interested in the heads to swap with all my platoon figures. If it came with gear I could use in any era like ammo boxes, an M2 MG, mortar, mortar ammo, etc it would be a bonus. Or I can buy the BBi WW2 figures with all that stuff included. I think a limited run of 1:18 heads of famous characters would be well received by us collectors but not sitting on pegs in public. Just like in 1/6th scale

Agreed with all on the licensing right costs and swappable heads would be the way to go.
Here is a novel idea: next time 21C purchases the rights to a movie, don't wait ten years to release the figures. Sorry about going out on a limb here fellas...
