Considering what some people are paying for these, I don't think your the only one. I know I would be good for about 10 each of NVA and VC, not to mention more of the US figures.

Go to http://www.21stcenturytoys.com and sort by "Vietnam, figures, XD". Pictures a little small, but you can get some idea. Also, one of the board members may have pictures on one of their websites.

They are coming

THEY ARE RELEASING MORE VIETNAM FIGURES.
The Platoon line will NOT be just Berrenger, Dafoe, Sheen & Depp. I assume these figures will have the new articulation (let's hope) that we see on the Japanese figures. So just sit tight.
Everyone refers to the 1st series articulation as "crappy" - well, let's not forget that's how the VN figures were articulated too. And that might be part of the reason they collected dust on the shelves for months when they were at TRU.....

Well that's good news. I didn't know they were releasing enemy figures in the platoon line.

NAM figures

Post by Razor17019 » Thu Apr 28, 2005 9:01 pm

"Pssst, hey buddy! Wanna buy some NAM figures?" as the man opened his trench coat to show off his collection of shiny 1/18 scale figures.

I remember when I first started collecting 1/18 scale 21st items. I had gotten the nice gift of CASH from my parents for my birthday. I was at TRU looking at the large cache of NAM vehicles (M-48 Patton, Huey both MIB) and the huge selection of NAM figures. I was so torn between blowing all my money on a few (4-5) NAM figures or getting like 10 WWII figures and a Huey helicopter that were on sale.
Went with the WWII figures and Huey.
I have since traded and purchased the NAM figures I passed up the first go around and found a nice used M-48 to call my own.
Funny how things work themselves out sometimes in our hobby of collecting XD...

I have a couple hundred nam figs in a huge diorama. Or at least I did until I had to pack them up last night to move. They are my favorite XD figs. The Paratroopers are more artiulated but I just can't get enough of the Nam figs. I'll post some pics when I get moved back into the new house and get the war room back up and running.

I remember being very pleased when finding the M-48 as finally I had a nice, big tank - having missed out on the S1 XD Panther and Sherman. It was also nice to see XD products making a comeback! I bought a couple of infantry figures to go along with it and convinced my brother to get the S1 Huey (which wound up being stored in the attic for a couple years until I bought it off of him in mint shape for $20!) The Viet Nam line truly was innovative for a toy line (given the still empassioned controversey behind that conflict) and it was simply too cool to pass up. I only wish I had gotten some more of those figures when they were selling for $2 at TRU!

I certainly plan on getting some of the "Platoon" figures to ride in my Huey and on the rear of the M-48. We could also really use some carded Huey Pilots and Door Gunners to go with all those Hueys (besides the one recent slick) that came with only one pilot!
