21st Century items from Toyfair '08

Post by SolidSnakeEyes » Mon May 19, 2008 4:29 pm

I know we've got some news buzzing about the KT and the 88, and now we've actually got the new DAK guys and the Bruno figures, and they rock; but what about those other two German figures (one with an Stg) and the kneeling US infantry...and, the super cool looking US machine gunner? Has anyone heard ANYTHING on any of those figures? Even a guess at when they might hit? I never even remember reading news about them, and only seeing the images from Toyfair.
Any kind of input would do at this stage, haha.

Here are links to the images on the 21 st Century site.

I can't answer any of your questions but I took another look at those images and saw something I hadn't noticed before. In the two pictures that show US riflemen the figures appear to have slings on their weapons. Does anyone know if this is something we're gonna start seeing on 21C figures or is it just something 21C does for display figures for trade shows?

I think that's the M1 with the bayonet that was used in the original paratrooper line. It always had a sling on it. It may be a different rifle, though. That's also the rifle that came with some of the Dday riflemen.

I do like how the new US troops have newly sculpted boots. The wraps are much shorter, which, looks way better.

I took a look at the SSHQ database and found the figures you mentioned. The original paras were well before I got interested in 1:18 figures and I've never seen that D-Day Rifleman before in my area. Thank you 21C and WM for your fine distribution models. :(

The slings add a lot to the realism of the figures. I wish it was standard on more of them.

The rifle with sling also came with Battershall - by far the best of the OMG release. He is the ONLY XD fig to come with the awesome bandolier they molded. Why not throw that in with more guys?

That is a cool accessory. Who in the heck knows why they don't pack that with the new riflemen...or why they don't pack in Thompson ammo pouches on the figures that have Thompsons, hah.

Either way...back to the original topic...I hope we see that US machine gunner in stores sometime before we all die. Since there apparently is no info on that set of figures, at all. I've still yet to find anything online.

F-4,Mig-21, F-100,F-14 on and on because of the non 1:18 modern jets i have done/did what i said i would never do and i purchased the 1/32 F-4 by BBI ( its just OK) will need some work when i get the chance. :( :blueangel:

If I were a 1:18 scale vendor I would not be announcing anything at Toy Fair that I didn't already have development of 85% completed.

I will say again that I suspect every vendor has secret aircraft projects at some stages of planning and probably only questions about the economy and rising oil pricing are getting in the way of their release.
