Photos of Skyworks 1/18 ME-163 Komet.

Post by chunks » Fri May 23, 2008 12:25 pm

I just received an e-mail from Skyworks concerning their Me-163 Komet.

I've no idea how how he has my e-mail other then I'm a semi-regular customer of MTS. So I consider these photos to be in the public domain.

He also has a webpage,

that was one of the early 163B test aircraft. I built a Heller model of that when i was a kid. The all red finish was very eye catching. I think it may have flown a couple of combat missions as well, but not sure.

Looks good.

No idea what it's made from. Now that I've looked through his website, I see he got my email address from a custom 1/18 P-51C of his I'd pickup from EBay last winter.

This paint scheme is actualy my least favorite 163 . Because of that I will pass on it and wait for the second paint sheme. :?

They just put it up on the MTS site.

i just noticed there's no armoured windshield. Probably one of the details they said would be added.

The rudder looks a little clunky but otherwise this thing is a beaut. The cockpit detail is better than I expected.

Thanks for the post Chunks.

That one seems to represent one of the non-armed prototypes and would not have had the armoured windshield.

It's amazing that such a small propeller can power such a large plane..

If you think that's amazing, then the ME-262 is even more fantastic. it doesn't have any propellers at all! :D

So it's resin eh? Oh now I see it. It was just painted in metallic color in one of the pic.

I'll wait for the more "traditional" Luftwaffe camo too.

Well, the preorder for it is up now. Not quite $350, but close.

Coloured in panel lines would do wonders for those models.
