Ha. Ha. No Chinese here. Our repaints are all made here in the USA and Minsi III is on the list.GooglyDoogly wrote:LOL, and I'm guessing oil prices and evil Chinese overlords are part of the problem.![]()
Talk about ironic, I was reading an article last week that until they improved their infrastructure (rail & highway) to tap the cheaper labor in Central China (prior to the earthquake), Chinese companies are looking to out-source manufacturing to Vietnam.
Also, another issue hurting Chinese production, before the Yuan was allowed to move on the market, Chinese manufacturers priced products in USD in their contracts. With the Yuan gaining on the dollar and those contracts still in effect, they are watching their profits drop and expenses climb. I bet a lot of contracts are going to be re-worked when renewals are signed.
Ok, I'll step down from my soap box now...
Back to the Hellcats.

Yeah, right here in the heart of the Costa del Sol. Some fifteen miles down the road from Málaga, but in the opposite direction (Eastern Costa del Sol, a stone's throw from the birthplace of the guy who gave Galveston its name: Bernardo de Gálvez y Madrid, Viscount of Galveston and Count of Gálvez). We enjoy a year round warm climate down here, so it's always full of tourists and expats.Killerf6 wrote:Anywhere near Malaga.
I spent a couple of weeks there when I was a boy. I really liked the area, the beach and ocean were beautiful. you could see the rock of Gibralter from the beach.

Looks like the voting is complete. And the winner is...
Series 2 - USS Lexington
Series 3 - USS Tulagi
Series 4 - USS Randolph
Series 5 - USS Yorktown
After thinking about it, all 4 deserve recognition with a repaint and it appears there is enough support for the latter two to justify the additional investment.
All 4 will be released at the same time here in a couple of weeks once I get the decals ordered today.
I know on my website I mentioned that Series 2, 3, & 4 are to be released in 6 to 8 weeks, this isn't what I had envisioned with 4 Hellcat paint schemes. I'll do my best to keep to this time line so it now appears that Series 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 will be released through out this summer.
All of these repaints are helping to fund a BIG project to be released in the coming months and no it's not a repaint.
Planes #1 & #2 of each series will be available through eBay and once those are sold, then I'll start taking orders through the website.
Who said 1:18 is dead?

Another comment, a HUGE THANK YOU to Mike with BBI. Without his support, none of this would be a reality.AirstrikeToys wrote:Thanks John! Your support and everyone else's here on the board is greatly appreciated.JohnLumley wrote:Patrick:

I am pleased with the series 1 Corsair.
Count me in on each of the Hellcats.

Reminds me of my kids... Are we there yet? Huh, are we, huh???pickelhaube wrote:Hey Patrick ,
Is there a way to have one of the Lexington's Hellcats transfer over to the HMS Emperor and have them repaint it in the RAF camo and invastion stripes ? Can we huh ? Can we huh?

All in due time. I'm going to have to experiment a bit on the techniques, even with the US Hellcats. I'm wanting realistic looking exhaust vs. just a little bit of soot. That will really look good on the RN camo...

Wow. I'm gonna have to tell my dad about the Lexington Hellcat! I used to stay on it when I was a kid in Boy Scouts, man that was AWESOME! I stayed on it 4 different times I think. It was sweet.

I haven't determined the price yet for the Hellcats but it should be close to the Series 1 Corsair. I'm waiting to get a final cost w/ shipping for the hellcats.pokeyjtc wrote:Just wondering if I missed this, but what is the price going to be on these Hellcats. I'm looking forward to the British one.
My pricing is based on how complex the work is and the material costs. I try to keep the price down...
I'm also working on another project that is VERY complex and I do expect the pricing to be higher. When its released, late this year, I think y'all will agree that its well worth the money. This will be a new 1:18 model and the only hint I will give is that it has 2 prop's... Big Smile... Big Smile...
