Bad cat has some pictures of the "Rudel" Stuka. Nice looking scheme. :D

Is this right? Rudel was known for his tank busting. Were are the cannons ? If this is correct this must be an early early version. Because his famous version was the later model with the sloping canopy smaller radiator and twin guns for the obsever.

You're thinking of a Ju-87G.

Rudel did fly a Ju 87G-2 during '44-'45 on the Eastern front, this was a tank buster version. So Pickelhaube I think your correct in that 21st's latest version is an earlier version Ju 87B-2. Still cool looking paint scheme.

2530 missions? 800 vehicles, 519 tanks, 2cruisers, 1 battleship, 150 artillery pieces, 9 planes in air to air, etc.,etc.,etc. Where was the rest of the Luftwaffe while he was doing this??? And why not give him access to a fighter every couple of missions for the hell of it..

Rudel flew most of the war in earlier versions of the Stuka...though he is best remembered for the G tank busters with 37mm cannons he flew. Scheme is accurate. Shame they didn't go all the way and retool the Stuka into a G. Sigh.

Oh and he did fly Fw-190's from time to time.

I'll have to let this one pass. It looks great, just too much a variation on a theme. Now if a tank buster comes out...

Don't forget the missing limb and the couple dozen rescues of his downed squadron mates...

Even at the end of the war he preferred the Stuka and could make the Russian pilot look silly trying to shoot him down. 8)

That's an interesting surprise repaint 8) I like it alot, but the question is do I get one? I've got two 1:18 Stukas already and my S1 green version suits me just fine. Still, accurate or not, the Rudel plane is certainly appealing

Sad to say but after all the 1/18 in my collection, I never picked up a Stuka, as much as I dig that aircraft. This looks like the one for me.

I know there must be threads on this bird but in a nutshell, how good (molding, scale accuracy etc.) is the 1/18 Stuka?
The sign of a great model is that one’s eye is not drawn to any one feature, yet one can study it for hours and continually find something new.

If I had the room I'd get one for the paint scheme on this is the best looking yet! BUT, I already have 2 Stukas. 8)

What do you guys think of the Stuka model? I don't have one, and this one looks nice.

I've got the winter, 1st issue green/grey, and the african/mediteraenean version (I chose to ignore the snakes that sat at TRU seemingly forever.)
Anyway, they have decent weathering on the panel lines and I am satisfied. They also look very appropriate with a big swastika on the tail-

Nope, they are not going to get me on this one. Have all of the other Stukas, so this one gets passed. Now twin cannon pods would be a different story. I think they missed the boat on this one. Looks like just an easy grab for money without having to invest in even the slightest retooling. C'mon 21st, I know the price probably has to go up but give us something for it.

If you don't have one, this would be the one to grab. I also have the winter version and the green/gray paint scheme, but always wanted the snake version.

The paint scheme looks similar to mine.

HA! (young'un) Forgot to put them on and never got around to it. Those protruding cannons shouldn't be too hard to replicate.

I read once that to be a Stuka pilot you not only had to be in great physical shape, but had stay that way too. For it was pretty common for the pilots to black out or nearly do so at the end of a dive, and that sometimes the auto-retrive pull out system did fail.

Those airhorns had to be terrifying!!

8) me too i was thinking its was to bad they didn't produce the canon versions JU 87 G ! i like the look without aerodynamic fairings around the landing gear !

anyway i think i will pick this since :

1- I don't have any stuka
2- This man deserve incredible respect
3- I read his book "stuka pilot" and it's a must have !
4- i am an 1/18 aircraft nuts !

Post by scudruner » Thu Mar 27, 2008 5:29 pm

i agree, that how much money does it take to retool it into a g model with new cockpit canopy and change cowling and remove wheel pants showing just the wheels and RUDELS WHITE TANK BUSTING EMBLEM.
also while iam in the mood to coment ,why can;t we get famous aces paint schemes like FOSS,BEURLING,MARSILLE,UDET,BARKHORN,BONG Aand the list goes on and on . these are sure to be good sellers and collectors pieces. i don;t think i am far off on this comment.where is the dauntless and spad[sandy[

Looks like they took it down for preorder. Never mind found it under the 1/18 Aircraft section.
