1/18th Russian P 40

Post by normandy » Sun Oct 24, 2004 6:27 pm

Some time ago there was a post on GPs site from a member about the P-40 and which one of the two ( Flying Tigers or Langly)he should he buy. My thought was what do I do with a P-40 and a room full of Luftwaffe aircraft? I found a Langly at a Wallyworld Here on Long Island and did a repaint, needs a little more work but for now it works for me.

Normandy,
That looks great. I like the ware on the paint. Now you need to add bigger suit to the pilot. Didn't most of the Russian plane use skids over wheels? Just wondering. Looks real any way, just needed a good back ground. Thanks for sharing.

You can't do any better than that!! The P-40 looks spot-on. I forgot about your Sturmtiger as well.....

Nice militaria you got there. I forgot all about it, too.......

Very nice job on the Russian P-40! You've really got to send pictures your work to 21st Century! They could make you a modeling consultant or something like that. A P-40 with that (or similar) Russian paintjob would be a feasable repaint - and the Chinese should not have a problem with it either!

Interesting collection you have....
Did you also repaint the 109E Trop?

Looks good, seeing this custom gave my the idea to create an Aleutian Tiger in the future. :D

Airbrush?

Post by CW4USARMY » Mon Oct 25, 2004 1:53 pm

Great custom! Makes me want to finally learn how to paint customs. Any recommendations on type or brand of quality air brushes and paint? :?:

Thanks

Thanks guys for all the coments... this was a fun and fast project, like 3days (not full days just after work) Teamski found some intel on the net and when I saw it I said thats the one... http://vvs.hobbyvista.com/ModelGallery/p40_48.php
Jagdfleger, yes thats a Trop 109 I did about 3 years ago. 5ohsinker Go for it! and CW4US, if your starting out I'd go with a Paasche single airbrush. $50 to $80 price range and as far as paint goes I use acrylic...easy clean up.
Well thanks to all of you and lets see some of your work
