BBI to make 1:18 P-40?

Post by pokeyjtc » Wed Mar 23, 2005 5:47 pm

I was on the Toys R Us web site yesterday and they have a BBI P-40 in 1:18 scale listed. It said it was not available yet. Anybody know if this is true or is this old news and I am just behind the curve?

Hmm, interesting. I seem to recall that amazon used to have the Mustang mislabeled as a P-40, but theres seperate listings for them now. Heres hoping its true, but I hope BBI is going to do more than just follow in 21st's footsteps.

Could be wrong, but I'll bet it's just an error.

a P-40? What's next a stuka, fw-190d and P-47d?

I hope they don't plan to keep trying to one up 21c. Let's see some new, not yet covered subjects...

It will be interesting if they do produce a P-40. There is room for improvement though, and I would like to see one with the detail that their P-51 had.

Yeah, we talked about that a while ago in another thread. It was noted that the SKU# was the same for the P-51, so it is a typo..... It would be cool to see a corrected canopy, though...

It would be cool if BBI makes anything new for WW2.

I definately would be interested if it were the later E or higher Series. I've got more then enough of the B model from 21st.

XD at Target

This was a surprise: http://www.target.com/gp/browse.html/60 ... e=13939151

Not great prices but good for distribution. Maybe one day we'll get it on the shelves of Target too (doubt it).
Hopefully Target.com will clear it out eventually and we can cash in..... :)

Wow!!! Did you guys know the Huey was originally called a P-40 and was from World war 2? I have a lot more respect for the chopper now! (He he, Kidding)

If BBI made a P40, and IF they put any/a tiny amount/just a little bit of DIHEDRAL into the thing, I would immediately give the kids my only NIB 21st P40, and then get THREE (or more) of them. I love the plane, but those flat wings bug the livin' heck outta' me.

Interesting stuff. If BBI is making a Corsair then perhaps that Zero won't be far behind.

Target carrying XD is wild, even if it is online only; guess this stuff is too big for them to devote shelf space to in-store. Makes me realize just how scattered 1:18 distribution is, though:

Wal-Mart carries XD in-store but not online; doesn't carry bbi
Target carries XD online but not in-store; doesn't carry bbi
TRU carries XD online but not in-store; carries bbi in-store and online
KB carries XD online but not in-store; doesn't carry bbi

I really wish other stores besides TRU would carry bbi; seems kinda weird that they're the only ones :? .

Now that IS news!!!! Wow, Target carrying 21st stuff. I would of never believed it. And look at those prices!!! They aren't going to sell many at that level, unfortunately.....

......Keep an eye on those prices. I'm sure Target will have to lower them in order to move them. It may take a little while but it will happen.

I don't think we'll see these in stores.. Under each product it says "web only".. But Target could still clearance them, I guess...

At those prices it makes one wonder if they are not getting them from a middleman distributor like Badcat. These prices are pretty high especially for a Wal Mart competitor.
