I found a ton of FW190's in Springdale AR today, but they're all at full price. A guy in NJ who buys planes from me on a regular basis said he found 4 yellow nose stukas for $10 each. Looks like the associates forgot to reprice the new planes when they came in again.....

Any new birds in Central Ilinois?

Post by jhogan » Wed Mar 09, 2005 11:51 am

About three weeks ago I passed on the first P-47 Bubble Tops I found in Peoria (bad paint). I've looked for restock of the BT's and hope to find the new 109's, but so far nothing in my area. Any recons from Bloomington, Springfield, Peru? Nothing in Peoria, Pekin, Morton, E. Peoria or Washington only spotty green and blue box 190D's and a few P-40's and Spits.

Finally caught sight of the P47 BT at a local WM here. Decided not to get one. I'm saving the parking spaces for the repaints of the Pzr.

2 Eaglestons P-47 Bubbletop's
2 "Eileen" P-47 Bubbletop's
2 Black 12 Fw-190D9's

Local WalMart has two 1:6 RC Marine Tanks at a 100.00 price. I suspect it will drop as they are marked as non-replenishable. I did find three 1:6 jeeps and 1 Kubelwagen. The Kubelwagen and one jeep was broken. I did purchase the other two jeeps for 10.00 each.

I'm new to the board and I read this whole thread just to see what planes wind up where. It was very interesting to me to see how unevenly some of the models get distributed throughout the country and how some planes wind up everywhere. Here's what's available here in the Houston area right now from the 8 different Wal-Marts I check on a pretty regular basis.

All 4 variants of the FW-190s can be found. Although alot of them have broken guns. Wal-Mart just got the black 12 and black 1 in the past month and a half. Alot of the stores are clearancing the 190s for $20. I found one store that had them for $14. And I got super lucky in January and found one Wal-Mart that had 4 black chevrons and 2 red threes and they were on clearance for $2 each. Yes, I said $2. So I bought all of them and then traded them for different planes I wanted.

The Eagleston P-47 bubbletop has shown up in the last month, but all are at regular price. I have yet to see an Eileen.

I can still find winter Shermans for $20 but all of the Tigers are gone.

The remote controlled M5 Stuart is available and I have seen the olive drab, the winter, and the jungle fever ones everywhere. They are on clearance from $100 to $75 depending on the store.

One store still has 6 P-47 Donnie boys, but they are regular price and have been there for forever.

Another store has 4 CIA Hueys, still at regular price

That's about it. I have seen some of the 1:6 scale jeeps and kubelwagens, and some of the 32X stuff, but that's not really my thing so I didn't price any of it.

Some of the planes that have never been in a Wal-Mart here in Houston.
Huck, Blond Angel, Checkertail P-47s,Flying Tiger or Langely P-40, any Corsair, Spitfire, or 109 at all.

If anybody wants anything, let me know and I will see what I can find. I'll be glad to make a deal or trade for stuff. Thanks

.

Pokey, that's one hell of a recon. Welcome to the board and thanks for the breakdown in your AO.
I think your sighting of $2 190s is the best XD deal yet, surpassing the famous $1 CIA Helos from a while back. Congrats

Welcome to the board!! It looks like Texas gets a good variety of warez! .....I wish! Distribution has always been a problem for all of us. A lot of trading ensues everytime a report is made. Patience is the name of the game, however the on-line retailers have really mitigated a lot of the frustration, albeit at a higher cost.

pokeyjtc,
Nice to have you aboard!
I suppose you traded off all of your $2 planes by now?
Did you get any M113s in your area??
Take a look at the traders section of the board.
I would be glad to trade with you, just sent me an email of what you have and what you are looking for.
Thanks!

$2.00 planes is a nice price, but my 20 cent Sherman beats it. They were supposed to be marked $20.00 but the decimal was wrong place wrong time. At least two people before me purchased them before they corrected the price.

You guys that get the crazy discounts - which seem to be most places besides the west coast - are pretty lucky. I've only gotten one discount and that was a $10 M-113 APC with trashed box. Every other plane or tank at WM remained at full price, even after the boxes were shot to hell and the item had been there six months!

Oh well, even at $40, if the item is in good shape, it can still beat the small retailer price :)

I did forget to mention that I can still find the tan M113 for $20 at Wal-Mart right now and I have seen a few of the Bradley fighting vehicles, but don't remember the price on those.

I was just glad to find this forum to talk about all of the cool 1:18 scale stuff that we all like to collect and to see that I am not the only person who can't drive by a Wal-Mart without going in to check out what they might have. I guess I am pretty lucky to have 8 Wal-Marts relatively close by. It helps to live in a huge city. A large part of the fun for me is finding that new plane on the shelf or getting something good on clearance. Something about buying the planes through online retailers just isn't quite as exciting to me, although sometimes it is the only way to get certain items. I'll definitely keep you guys posted when anything new shows up.

I'll post over in the buy, sell, trade section what I've got or can get to trade or sell and what I am looking for. As far as the $2 190s, I have a red 3 left. I was nice and gave a couple of planes to my brother since he likes this stuff too.

Found a Stuka on the shelf at Wal-Mart today. It is the winter white S3 release. It's regular price, $39.84, but if anybody wants me to get it for them, let me know.
