Which "new" era would you like to see 1/18 figures

Post by Morian Miner » Sun Jan 13, 2008 9:26 am

Since I'm stuck at work today, I got thinking about this, and wanted to see others opinions.

If you could pick one era (so far, with no toyline out) that a manufacturer would got out and make ARTICULATED 1/18-scale figures for, along with a couple "vehicles" and accesories, what would be your first choice? And, you only get one. If you vote "others", let us know which one. I came up with this list off the top of my head as what I would think would be the most popular, so I'm sure there's some other big ones I've missed.

Also, I know there are some static figures put out for some of these, but I'm ignoring those. I thinking a toyline along what we've gotten for WWII, modern, and to a limited extent, Vietnam

My choice - American Civil War.

I chose WWI only because a some of the equipment, weapons, etc.. might cross over and be useful for WWII. ;)

I would have to go with WWI. While I am a bit of a U.S. Civil War buff, I feel that WWI has been overlooked for far too long. The various countries that were involved in WWI could make for a great selection of 1/18 figures. Not to mention, some artillery and armor for the period would be awesome.
It is what it is.

I agree with grunt1, and others. WWI. However, I am interested in Civil war era, as well as feudal Japan. I have also considered doing something of the Korean war. All I need is some Koreans, Chinese, and a T34 :D

World War I  Many of the other choices (Romans, Knights, Dark ages, etc.) have been made in 1:18 already with BBI's Warriors of the World lineup. I think they are also going to make Civil War figures as well, though that would be my second choice for a new era in 1:18.

Ancient warriors (Rome, Greeece maybe Sparta) would be cool.

Fuedal Japan would be completely cool. I am with the Colonel though; why no ancient Greece/Peloponnesian War era? I know I know, if I don't like your poll I can make my own damn poll instead! :P

Great point. It wasn't on the list but the Korean war period is very neglected not only from a hobby but also a historical perspective.

All of those listed are good choices, but WWI would be the best for us ;)

WWI with Civil War right behind!! Look what Power Team did with an articulated 1:18 horse!
It's too bad other companies like bbi and FOV copy 21C instead of going in different directions...

yeah, I've heard it called the forgotten war or the forgotten conflict before. The reason I was thinking of it earlier is that a friend of mines' father just passed away, and he was a Marine in the Korean Conflict. I really wish I could have heard some of his war stories before he passed.
I could re-use a lot of my WWII equip. to make some Korean era stuff, like a Sherman dug in at an angle, or a Priest, Jeep etc,. I'm not quite sure what modifications are needed though.

Interesting. I didn't think WWI would be so overwhemingly popular. Would be nice for diorammas...I like making trenches :) .

My reason for leaving Korea off is I figured it has had at least some items made. Again, I will profess my ignorance in regards to that war, but I thought it had been discusses in the forums that the Dodges and Jeeps could be used, and I though the marines could pass for Korean soldiers. Also, we have gotten the MiG-15s and Sabres.

WW1 is what I chose as well. Although some of those other lines would be nice, I think that a WW1 line would have massive possibilities such as the WW2 line offers. :D 8)
