The paint schemes could be a good marketing strategy. Folks will buy the DAK because it is a new piece of armour and so we will want one. Then later, release the gray and we will buy it again because that is the color most folks will probably want. So, they can sell at least two to many folks.
Not a bad strategy really.

yes i figured that was what they were doing.....but i hope it doesn't backfire and lots of the DAKS end up sitting on the shelves, as people wait for the grey version.
Usually the first production run is the biggest, with subsequent repaints being relatively small runs. But the dark grey is probably the most desired colour, so it would have made more sense to me to do it first and then do a smaller run of DAK repaints down the road.
Time will tell, i guess. Regardless, it's a thing of beauty...

Well, not what I was looking for
But, it is easy enough to apply a coat of med. to dark gray to make it a standard for the western front. I think my DAK troops I have may get converted either to Gray Germans or perhaps modified to Russian troops
I personally didn't care for the African front, too blah of a paint scheme for the equipment, too hot for the troops. Da General

You could always make yourself a Maultier.
Sources vary on the towing capacity but it's something at least. Good enough for the Pak.

I posted more photos and some "work in progress" shots here that show how the running gear was constructed.
