Vexillarius Decals are GREAT!

Post by Yankee John » Tue Jan 01, 2008 6:50 pm

I bought some Vexillarius decals from Badcat (Awesome vendor, by the way) for my AT Me262 white 8, 21st Old Crow P51, and 21st BBD P51.

I put them all on today and they look terrific! Now my planes are historically correct.

Just wanted to send kudos to some awesome suppliers in our hobby/obssesion.

They are water slide decals. Clean the area with a damp terry cloth. Use warm or room temperature water in a dish or bowl and lay on top of the water the selected decal. Soon, the paper backing will soak up the water and the "glue" under the decal will be activated.

This should occur within 20 to 30 seconds after placing in the water. Use some tweezers to lift the decal and sheet out and gently test if it will slide off the paper backing. Wet the area to be applied and slide the decal off onto the area and postion it carefully.

Once in position, use the damp terry cloth and press out the bubbles to flatten it out on the area. Don't slide it around under pressure or the decal will tear. It is very delicate.

You can always 'seal' the decal after it dries with a light coat of Testers Dulcoat and using Microscale's Micro Set helps soften the decal once it's in place to allow it to stick better.

I should also mention, do not allow the decal to be seperated from the paper backing. If while soaking the decal sheet and this occurs, chances are the decal is ruined for you will not be able to apply it now without the paper backing. That is why they are called water slide decals.
