One has got to hand it to the new 21c Fanclub for keeping us informed of various things on a very regular basis. All these little tidbits, as well as the Toy Fair photographs, sure make our old way of gleaning information seem like the dark ages!

I just hope they keep it up.

As a webmaster for an organization, I KNOW how hard it is, and how time consuming it can be. Yes, alot of the tech stuff can be farmed out to a hired gun, but you can't farm out the creativity and the passion.

I've been a fan of 21C since their first sets. I'm not blind to the faults in their products, but they were affordable and easy to find.

Here's wishing them (and anyone else producing things in 1:18) ALL the best!

Dukes of Hazard?

Post by Quixote511 » Wed Mar 09, 2005 7:55 am

Does it look like 21st is comming out with and RC version of the General Lee? Did I miss something? If you look at the coverage of Hobby Channel's coverage of 21st on the Area 21 site, it looks like one of the big signs of for a RC version of the General Lee. If that be the case, count me in. I would be reliving fond memories of my childhood with one of those. If that is not what I saw, I need better glasses.

John schnyder(hope I spelled that correctly) lives around this area(San Antonio) and he really does have a few Chargers in his car collection that he drives from time to time.I think I'l have to have one also. :?

The Car Boss the Car

Post by Quixote511 » Thu Mar 10, 2005 1:00 pm

No, I do mean the General Lee from the TV Show Dukes of Hazard. I don't want to link the pic because P-51 had previously asked that we do not link images from Area 21. But, in that piece on the coverage from Hobby Channel, one of the Big signs at the top of the display looked like it was for a RC version of the Genral Lee. Did 21st get the rights to produce products for the upcomming movie? I am pretty sure that is what I saw. Back me up here fellas.

General Lee

Post by cmelt27 » Thu Mar 10, 2005 1:50 pm

Well, that does definitely look like the Dukes' General Lee, and it definitely looks like it is remote control. I just can't make out the logo on the left side of the poster. It does not look to be a logo for 21st Century Toys to me though. Some company appears to be definitely making it. Just my two cents....

It has to be a different company. As Cmelt observed, the logo deffinitely is not that of 21c (you can tell by the shape) and everything to the left of the poster is all part of some sports-car toy line and is from another company.

I don't know

Post by Quixote511 » Fri Mar 11, 2005 10:18 am

It does look like the RC logo for 21st and it is in their both space. Does anybody have Mike Cordero's email? We could just ask the company.

Maybe that isn't their booth space after all. Oh well!

Chargers

Post by red69charger » Fri Mar 11, 2005 10:42 am

Kamikaze, the 68 - 70 Dodge Chargers are a blast to own and drive. Personally I wouldn't change one it into a General Lee clone ... there's enough of them out there already IMHO. Try to get a 440 if you can't afford the Hemi. I had to sell my 440 Charger to help pay for a new house. I've already started saving for my next one.

Why would you say that's not their booth space? Looks like it to me....

There has been a recent focus on some movie / TV licenced products. But I also see quite a few new products from the core brands as well. XD sure seems to have a lot going this year. One of the biggest yet. Also look at all the new 1/32 and even 1/6 is seeing new items. Overall It points to good things for 21st. The signs of a healthy company with much to offer and lots of irons in the fire.

That poster of the general lee might be from the other company that was sharing 21st Cs booth at the toy fair. I asked about the cars while I was there and they told me the name of the company, but I forgot, sorry. 8)
