Well guys my first love of collecting stuff was Nazi stuff. Daggers headgear medals and the like. I had a banner collection that had almost every type color fringe and size. My wife forbade me to display the banners but let me dispaly all of the other stuff. After about the 10th snide remarks of visiters. Oh! You must be a Nazi fan . Do you like David Duke? People would not listen to the vanquished enemy speach and the no way do I like David D.They just saw the stuff and what it stood for. So I got rid of ALL of it and got into spikes. Now I am into XD and people just smile and don't say a word.

im still in the closet with my collection - was only recently that i put my armor on a shelf in the garage - it the new house I have my own closet and I will have two high shelves for the armor - I have room to hang three planes and get away with it - and will probably use the L hook idea (as seen in an earlier thread) for about 5 planes in the office - or use the pic frame hooks on the wall - funny thing is so far I havnt found L hooks anywhere - homedepot WM lowes - nada

i did some poking around and found out that Trumpeter is releasing a 1/16 KV-1 this year. I imagine there will be a follow up KV-2 as well.

So, for us cheaters, looks like we'll be able to widen our Russian armour range soon.

it's a model kit but hopefully they'll be a built up r/c version come out as well, like with their T-34.

you will be able to buy just the fuselage alone, if you don't want to have it radio controlled. No word on pricing yet but i would expect a couple of hundred dollars.

It would be neat to have but i don't know if i can stomach a chinook that is smaller than my Apache. :)

There are several r/c chinooks available; most are huge 4 foot plus in size and costing a fortune....a few are tiny 15-20 inch size. This is the closest i've found to 1/18. I don't expect to ever see a 1/18 Chinook from the big 3...

Looks like the ready to fly cost of the Chinook will be $500-$600. Should be able to lift about a pound or so, in a sling load.

Undersized or not, it would look pretty swish buzzing along with a BBI Hummer, 105mm howitzer (modified Joe Mountain Howitzer) or maybe even an M113 slung under it.

I started the hobby with 1:18 buit I am phasing those out and selling them off except for the figures which I still collect and one or two vehicles. For armor I prefer 1:32, especially FOV but of course I like 21st 32x as well. For aircraft, I do like the 1:32 size from 21st but for some reason they are rarely seen in my AO. I have just gotten into 1:72 aircraft and I think that is the best size for me. A good combo of price, detail and size.

So for me it is mainly 1:72 and 1:32 but I have been drooling over the Armour 1:48 aircraft at my local hobby store. It's hard to stray when you're already all over the field! :P

This could be interesting for an in-flight refueling plane, if you can overlook the fact it just has two engines. About 1/28 scale (going by kc-135 dimensions), so quite underscale but still a big plane. Would still look kinda neat hung refueling a bbi F-16.

Here's a nice little pby catalina for those that don't mind drifting off scale a bit. It's about 1/22. You'd need to build the turret on the nose to make it a military version....probably not too difficult.

http://www.towerhobbies.com/products/gr ... a1154.html

There was a bigger Catalina made by Kyosho a few years ago. It was about 1/17 scale. I have it and it's a real monster. They're tough to find now and will run you $300++.

Now that I have my 1/18th F6F I am gonna scale down to 1/48th and 1/32nd planes. That is until Admiral comes out with the SBD, which by the looks of it will be awhile. There is just nothing out there except maybe the Japanese Zero that catches my eye except in the 1/32 and 1/48 feilds where I have the P-51B/C's catching my eye. Heck I may even scrub getting the 1/18th Zero and just get a 1/32nd one which Walmart has plenty of. But I have reached my limit in 1/18th for the forseeable future as of right now.

i think i may get one of those super airliners i mentioned above and make it into an AWACs. I can buy a couple of extra nacelles, to make it a four engine plane. Just need to figure out how to make the radar dish assembly. I figure if i hang it up nice and high it will look pretty cool and disguise the off scaleness a bit.

Here's a 1/22 scale A-6 Intruder coming out from Kyosho in December. Has a plastic body (rather than foam) and comes pre-painted. Should be impressive model at nearly 2 1/2 feet long. No idea of price.

here's an even larger airliner, a bit cheaper too. Averages out to about 1/23 scale but i think it would make a great AWACS or in flight refueling plane.
