I would say overall that the BBI Corsair is still the best in 1/18 (Marines Dream). But the F6F comes very close, so very close. But maybe thats a bias on my part because I love the F4U so much. I'm a big Hellcat fan but my heart lies with the P-51 and Corsair. If you get one you'll be happy with it I'm sure.

Couldn't have said it better myself, and agree 100% the Corsairs are incredible, especially when their price is factored into the mix. The Hellcat is certainly a close 2nd, I'm loving bbi and hope they continue to push out the high quality pieces.

Went to Toys R Us to replace my Corsair and found several boxes of Hellcats. Rang up at 44.99, however, Corsairs were all marked 39.99, so I got it for the lower price. Nice bird.

I just got back from TRU. No Hellcats yet. Just a Donald Duck P-51, and a Daisy June Corsair.

The Hellcat has not arrived in the Houston area TRUs as of today. I guess I'll have to keep checking.

Hey B-24 guy were in LA do you live? I will check out the TRU on Vets tomorrow. My uncle flew B-24s in WW2. The name of his ship was NIHCTIB RUOY TIUQ. QUIT YOUR BITCHIN spelled backwards. This saying was reported to be said quite often by my grandmother to her kids my mom included. She had 3 sons and a daughter (mom). All in the air force . Mom was to. She was a nurse and made the rank of captain.

Hi, that is awesome about your Uncle flying B-24s. I am in Lafayette, and I am new to this hobby. Do we have a few people from Louisiana on this site?

Hey man,
Sabrefan lives out there with you in Lafayette. I live in River Ridge. Victory lives on the WestBank. And I think that Grilled cheese lives in Raceland. There is a whole bunch of Bayou Boys on this forum.

Finally got a Hellcat via Toysnswords.com for $39.99 plus $10 shipping. It'll show they're out of stock, but they're not. Anyhow, color me impressed. After seeing the quality of this jewel, I'm going to have to get a BBI Corsair to replace my 21st Century one. Great job BBI!!!

Yes, you need a BBI Corsair. Seems no matter what new models I get, my favorite remains my Marines Dream Corsair. There is just really something special about the BBI Corsair.

I keep hoping to run across a three color scheme BBI corsair (Marine Dream), however, all I can find are the dark blue ones, which don't appear to have any weathering. The Hellcat is absolutely beautiful with crisp paint lines and markings. I just wish I could find a corsair to match.
Any ideas?

wow, that toysnswords price of $39.99 on the Hellcat is awesome. Their shipping to Canada is reasonable too. I may just have to grab it.
Thanks for the heads up..

That would be great.
I would offer to pick up a Hellcat for you, however, I'm sure you already had five before I even pulled into the TRU parking lot. LOL.
As the skies (ceiling) over Flower Mound are getting a little crowded; is there any value to holding onto the original P-51 and Corsair? I'm giving much thought to handing them over to my 10 year old nephew, who has a new found interest in WWII to make room for the improved models...

Gift them! Besides the goodwill, there are so many new and affordable Mustangs and Corsairs out. And the Legends Corsair is supposedly in the works, so you will have plenty of P-51s and F4s to choose from..

Aferg (or anybody who orders from toysnswords.com) be forwarned, they are a strange bunch. I received no order confirmation, no shipping confirmation, nothing. Then suddenly about a week after I ordered the charge appeared on my credit card and I received it a few days after that.

On my Hellcat the prop in not tight in the engine. The prop snaps in the same way it does on the Corsar, but it is so lose, the prop kind of drops down a bit. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? The props on my Corsairs popped in tight, but the Hellcat is lose.

I have the same problem but I'm scared to take it back out. In hind sight I think if you pack the little clip thing full of something like masking tape or wrap it with masling tape and slice it like a banana to match the expanding clip should do the trick. But that could slow down the spining of the prop. I will just let mine alone.
