BBI Hellcat Pilot

Post by JOC » Sat Sep 22, 2007 9:54 am

I was under the impression that the pilot supplied with the BBI Hellcat was the same one that comes with their Corsair. Even though they are similar, I have found that mine is a bit different in face and coloring of life jacket and shoulder straps for parachute. Is it only my failing eyes or am in just imagining this?
Thanks

JOC,

It is the same with only very minor differences like the life jacket and so fourth.

Post by MG-42 » Sat Sep 22, 2007 10:06 am

Maybe somebody can post a pic on here , like the "AviatorNut" said he was.

Anybody ? ... I'm curious to see what he looks like myself.

I have a comparison picture of the two pilots in my pictures on the first page of the Hellcat thread:

Image

The Hellcat pilot is on the left, note the revolver it came with and the patch on the arm. The Corsair pilot is on the right. I changed the head from the original, however, both headsculpts are indeed the same. The Hellcat Pilot's head does have more weathering.

Hellcat Pilot

Post by JOC » Sat Sep 22, 2007 12:35 pm

Thanks to all who chimed in here. At least now, I know my eyes aren't as screwed up as I thought they were. I was going to get some extra's from Aviatornut, as he advertised both as extras but it seems thqt all he really has is the Corsair as he emailed me that they were all the same.

Corsair or hellcat they are both IMHO the best pilot figures at this time, and they really don't differ that much from one another. I often wonder why the bbi P51 pilot isn't as well done as the corsair or hellcat pilots.

Yes the zero pilot is very nice, definetly on par with the corsair, and hellcat pilot.

Avaitornut,
So, you are only selling the hellcat pilot figure, right?
Does he come with the revolver as in Tman's pic above?

Does he come with any other accessory?

I would like to know what I am getting before I buy.

bbi Pilots are great and the fact that they are for sale at all is newsworthy, so don't worry about getting deleted. Razor, the "revolver" is just in the holster on his chest - that is, neither the pilot that comes with the AC nor the one Aviator is selling comes with a revolver he can hold.

On a side note, it would be awesome if Aviator could score some Zero pilots. A pre-PH line-up would be awesome.

Digger,
Is Tman mistaken on the revolver?

Tman,
Did the revolver come with your original Hellcat pilot?

Aviatornut,
Who is yelling at you? I am just trying to find out the total scoop on this and make it clearer to anyone that would want to buy from you.
I looked for more information on your website and I didn't even see any Hellcat pilots for sale.

Razor, he is talking about the revolver you see on his chest in the holster - that is on the pilot but it is not a removable pistol.

MG, I would love to have a bunch of the very impressive zero pilots lined up like you might have seen in a movie or two. I think it would look very cool.

I wish I could get ANY pilot loose... Sometimes it's all I want out of a plane, especially ones like the Hellcat/Corsair. I'd love some Zero pilot s though as they're quite slick looking and I never saw a Zero anywhere at retail, so gladly I'd buy a pilot loose.

BBI's figures really should just be MORE available is the moral of the story I think. :) PIlots or otherwise. I know I'd take some more Abrams tankers or LAV crewmen. I'd gladly take more of the Sherman tanker too, to do some headswapping with.

Razor17019 I was not referring to you. I am sorry for the confusion it was a joke because any time I write anything that seems like I am trying to sell an item I get reprimanded and rightfully so since that is not what this forum is for. Sorry once again for the confusion but to answer your questions. 1. They are not on the website since I was only able to obtain very few figures. 2. (I know this is not your question) the revolver does not come with the figure 3. I tried to get bbi produce more zero pilots but as of now it is not happening 4. as for wanting more bbi figure; bbi is for some unknown reason not producing any action figures (except what is at retail store ie target, toys r us) but I am trying to get more figures from bbi….any figure would work for now.

I was real surprised when Aviatornut offered the bbi pilots up for sale. I almost never see bbi pilot figures for sale, and never in any quantities. So I of course jumped on a bunch and didn't ask any questions, now making a run for my bunker.

From what I saw on the Bad Cat blog they ordered a bunch of Hellcat pilots and will be offering them for sale when they get them in stock. I didnt know the pilot was such a favorite among us collectors.
