Small Scale Military Headquarters

Would anybody want a V-1 transport/storage dolly ? The dolly and misc air bottles and other support gear ? Maybe even a small launch ramp ? I would think in the 24" long range. Tamiya has a dolly in there 1/48 scale V-1 kit which I can scale up .

Interesting, but I'd rather have another Panzer IV chassis conversion followup to your fantastic wirbel kit like a Stug, Hummel, Brummbar or Jagdpanzer..

I would definitely be interested. The lack of any kind of support equipment is what has kept me from ordering a V-1 so far. I just never had any interest in a hanging display, but a ground display would be cool.

Here is what it will look like. It is kind of simple but a little long. It probably will be the easiest custom to paint after it is assembeld. Just spay paint it with gray primer and you are done.

I would say in the $30-$50 range. Considering the price of the actual rocket model , the combo for both is not too outlandish.

I personally would prefer the wooden storage trailer. Here is a photo of one sitting on an original cart
and the photo in the background shows a group of them stored on carts in a tunnel.

I do not think that this is ligit. When the v-1s were shipped to the launch area they were diassembled. They put them together there on the steel dolly. The long arms in the front and back of the dolly were to help guide it onto the ramp. This dolly was probably made to give the bomb something to sit on. Unless I have no idea what I am talking about.

I looked at the picture in the background this could be an original storage dolly but if you look at the pic the wings are removed . So I guess that I am partialy right. So the steel dolly might be the one you would want so you can dislay the rocket in the fully built mode.

The dolly would be less than $5 in materials. It would only take a few hours to make. At first, I never even noticed it in the pic that MG-42 posted.

The ramp will be a good project to make. I don't have a V-1 yet. I'll have to get one or borrow one to make the ramp. I can get wood dowels in 48" lengths. It wouldn't be exactly to scale, but it would be good enough for a display. To scale might be over 10 feet long. Anyone know the dimensions of the ramp?

The ramp used something simular to timber /railroad ties. Square stock not round stock.

$5 worth of materials and a few hrs.

It is yours to do.

I figured a day and a half to build the master. A half day to make the molds. $30-$50 worth of RTV. Styreen and steel axels at least $10-$15 for the master building materials. Then once that is all done. About $10 worth of resin with about $3 for the steel axels per unit.

So I figure from $53 to $78 just to get the first production dolly out and about 2 days to do this. So if you can do it for $5 I will let you. No problemo.

I am not trying to bust your 8alls but these things are a little more work than they seem. I know. Although this would be an easy project compaired to some that I have done. I have learned one thing. Scale custom work is never easy.
It has taken me over 2 days to build the M-113 turet which is no bigger than a golf ball and I am not done with it yet.

I was just talking about gluing a few sticks together to make this thing the V1 is sitting on. At least it looked simple.



I understand if you're going to make a mold of something that there's alot more work involved.

Great idea and do not wish to dampen it one bit, but I found a month ago a Playmobil forest logging truck - 4209, which works a treat. It comes with a tractor which I sprayed grey, but I prefer to hook the logging trailer on to a IJ truck and pull the V1 that way. There are chains supplied that go over the top of the rocket to keep it balanced. It looks made to order.

Every pic I have seen with the V-1 on the dolly troopers were hauling them. I think it took 14 guys to lug those buzzers to the ramps.

Her are some pics for you guys to work with I was going to use them to make my own V-1 dolly...but Decide not to be greedy and to share them with you....
