FIGHTER EVOLUTION DISPLAY

Post by supersonicfifi » Mon Nov 30, 2009 8:57 am

Hello all,

Just some pics .....

Just before receiving my F 14, i wanted to post some pictures of my actual display in my living room. (the TOMCAT will take the place of thoses 3  )

Just above a part of my aviation books (1500+ evrywhere !!! ) , I have displayed some sort of Fighter evolution :

Image

The first is one of my favorite : THE CUSTOM HAWK 75 done by PICKELHAUBE based on a P 40 (skycapitain) and more important in French Air force colors

Image

This plane is important to me because in 1940, France was invaded because our politics where not very long sighted ! But the French pilots are true heros and shot down more than 1000 german planes in a few weeks.

Image
They compensated the poor airplanes by panache & technique ...

the others are a regular P40 + P 51 KILLER ....

Image

Image

The plane are not fixed ... but it's seems very dynamic

love the P 36

Post by supersonicfifi » Mon Nov 30, 2009 10:47 am

Yes i love the P36 too ! PH has done a super work : RADIAL engine + RUDDER with different shape, proppeler custom + rear glass with e different shape !

The most signifiant detail (appart the engine !!!!) is the slim fuselage (under the wings .... more representative of the P36/ P40 familly)

It was just some pictures before my display change !

I can't wait that TOMCAT !

Very cool P-36. I've often though about setting up aircraft evolution displays myself. Even with the overall limited variety of 1:18 planes, there really are a lot of this type of display that one can do:

Evolution of the US Airforce:
P-40
P-38
P-47 razorback
P-47 bubbletop
P-51D
F-86E
F-86F
F-104C
F-16

Evolution of the US Navy:
TBF Avenger
F6F Hellcat
F4U Corsair
F-14
(Unfortunantly, there's nothing from between 1945-1970)

Evolution of the Luftwaffe:
JU-87
ME-109E
Bf-109G2
Bf-109G6
FW-190D9
ME-262A
ME-262B
F-86E
F-104G (I know its actually a Marineflieger aircraft, but its close enough)

Evolution of Jet Aircraft:
ME-262A
ME-262B
Mig-15
F-86E
F-86F
F-104C
F-104G
F-14
F-16
F-18

My lists all consist of existing 1:18 aircraft 8)

Though not really an evolution, it would probably be cool having an F14, F15, F16, F18 lined up. Add an F104 to the beginning if you want. Or an F4 if it ever comes out.

Dude, that Picklehawk does look pretty snazzy. The 14 is gonna take up all that space, so where you gonna put the others?

Super Sonic Fifi

Why don't I remember this post ?

The P-36 was a thing of beuty but I am not sure it was worth all of the anger and trouble.

Thanks jack of Skyjerks. T.

The moulds are shot but maybe just maybe it could be worth making new one and issuing more.

Maybe in a full kit so one does not have to invest in ANOTHER P-40.

Thanks for sharing again !! :D :D :D

Nice heli's, I also have the Kiowa, my favorite 1/18 heli.

Do you also hate so much the brush cleaning (dust)? I still need to protect most of my plane/heli models behind acrylic.

Supersonicfifi, there is one well known 1/18th plane you could add with french markings and few custom: the reconnaissance P-38 from Antoine de St-Exupéry (before the deadly shooting of a sad FW-190, bien entendu).

I've got an idea for a long time to repaint all the 1/18 plane I own in French Marking :s

The P38 in Antoine de St Exupery blue colors
The P51 mustang in reccon version as the P47 from the end of the war

The TBM Avenger and Dauntless were also in French NAVY colors

That sounds like a fine idea! Its not often we get to see those planes with French markings. 8)
