Especially the pattern of things "suddenly" showing up as they go through the warehouse. An unexpected warehouse find may be one or two pieces, at best a case of 4. Not hundreds. Especially not in the day and age of computerized inventory. Factor in that only the 21st stuff is marked down so dramati...

I think one reason walmart didn't carry 21st on their website is because most planes and tanks were shipped (at least to them) in "assortment" cases. Which means they couldn't put 20 boxes in the warehouse and know for sure that they had 80 of a specific plane/paint scheme. And unlike other manufact...

My first experience with 21st Century actually was at Walmart, with a chance find of a Tiger I in a Motorworks box. My local store didn't get another piece in for more than 6 months, so I suspect it was sheer luck that it was in the store. I had a hell of a time tracking down more info on the manufa...

Under most circumstances, yes, it would. It depends a little on how it was written, but most NDA's remain valid for the specified term, even if the originating company folds. I am actually surprised that Roy has been able to do what he has in the field after leaving 21st - most companies will requir...

It's not that expensive, especially compared to advertising costs on a national network like NBC or Fox. And I actually researched the cost of putting an ad in the History Channel magazine, and it was reasonable enough (I think about $3500 for a half page full color ad, if I recall correctly), and I...

As long as they own the brand and identity, there is a good chance they can make a comeback in a couple years. Hopefully with a little better business strategy. Why they never considered advertising in a suitable outlet (like TLC or the History Channel during a show like "Dogfights") is beyond me - ...

And soon enough, MD's stock will be gone and people who may have jumped into the 1/18th arena because of killer prices will find themselves wanting to add to their collections. And for that, they will be paying normal retail prices. How many of us started down the XD path due to a clearance sale at ...

Ironically, my 2 Panthers were about $30 for shipping. I ordered my 2 88's before the Panthers shipped, and shipping on the 2 was closer to $18. And when I ordered my nightfighter tonight (none of the previous stuff has shipped yet), shipping was like $9.50. So they must be combining shipping from s...

Yeah, I have bought more XD in the past week than I have in the past 18 months (and I think the total bill so far is still less than my last 1/6 figure!) The SS set, 2 Panthers, 2 88's, a Me-262 Nightfighter... what's next? And where will I put it all?!? Good problems to have, especially if this is ...

While I will miss the low prices and the thrill of the hunt, I don't consider it a tragedy, especially since Walmart ONLY carried 21st. And I won't miss the frustration of not finding the stuff I want or fighting with a mob of 4 year olds to get through the aisles. There are other retailers, both br...

They could be trying to raise some quick cash while trying to reduce costs by eliminating a warehouse facility that they are either leasing or own and could sell. The cost to truck it to CA or elsewhere would probably exceed what they could get back out of it, and for MD to have the prices they do, ...
