Re: Red Tails...

That unit received the presidential citation & over 1000 individual medals for a reason. The 1940s weren't exactly a "PC" era, and a lot of very important and powerful people were against them. They were highly educated, highly trained, and fought with a chip on their shoulder. Certainly one of the ...

Re: Red Tails...

I think a lot of people forget that they are trying to make a highlight film of a unit's 2 year history into a 2 hour movie. The attack on the ground base is based on the Red Tails' attack on Pantelleria. The Pantelleria attack was the first time an air-only attack forced a ground garrison to surren...

Somebody needs to tell them that the M10 has been done quite a bit by HM, but the M36 on the same hull is yet to be made, and would be a cool one!

Re: Merit 1/16 Tanks

I've been tempted to get the T34 since there's not one available in 1/18. So far I have not, partly due to the scale difference but mostly due to lack of opening hatches. Oh yes it is . And the hatches open as well. T-34/76 http://www.warbird-photos.com/gpxd/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=21766 I also ...

Re: Yellow paints don't cover well?

Picklehuabe is right. Put some white down first. If you've already painted the rest of the plane, just use a white first on the area to be yellow. I haven't done any models in a long time, but I painted cars for years. Yellow doesn't cover in the automotive world either, and we always had to put do...

What, ILM doesn't give Lucas a discount? It's his own company.

Re: Wings of Glory aircraft line!

I just got off the phone with the owners of BH toys. Everyone is excited to see the planes on the shelves and so far it's been a strong opening weekend. There are more planes coming in 1:48 and larger scales in the future! The next 1:48 plane and scheme is being approved as we speak. By now everyon...

No carrier based Hellcats, Corsairs and Helldivers (like the original Midway movie) but Wildcats, SBD's and TBD Devastators that no longer exist except a few salvageable ones at the bottom of the ocean (bring them up dammit) Throw in a few Midway lan...

Re: Red Tails...

ok, so, apparentlly, Red Tails did 'far better than expected', with the opening weekend tally being $19.1 million. So i wonder if this is close enough for the other movies to be made? "Red Tails, about the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II, did far better than expected. Lucas spent 20 years pursu...

Saw it today...Theater was packed, which was really cool! Action scenes (over half the movie) were awesome, and planes generally looked great, with or without accurate markings! The technology, to me, is fantastic! Good mix of real and CGI aircraft. Acting good to tolerable, but in line with somewh...

Re: Red Tails...

Well, in the movie it seemed like they were only to fight off German fighters that were trying to engage the bombers, then break off and return to the bombers instead of trying to finish the Germans off. I think the point was, if the escorts dogfought for too long with the Germans, the bomber stream...

Saw it last night - quick info is about HALF of the whole movie is aerial combat and action! And that part is fantastically done! The other parts are hit and miss, I didn't find most of it too painful, but the film does not disappoint in the action, which is as good as anything I've seen, and is jus...
