Re: For those looking for uber rare Century Wings

I definitely spent like 20 minutes drooling over your auctions the other day and didn't even realize it was a forum member. I'd kill for one of the flaps/slats/kneeling tomcats, but I like my freedom lol... Maybe one day I'll be able to add one to my 1/72 collection...

Re: Authentic vs Badass

Personally, I'd go authentic, as authentic as possible based on reference material, because I love seeing small pieces of history in my collection. I've never been into "what-ifs", because they never existed. If you built it as true as possible to an actual airframe, then why not capture the source ...

Re: skyworks web site

Wow..talk about some shady business. FWIW- pilots are not a lost cause. I noticed the Ebay seller others have pointed out, but he looks low on inventory. I can tell you that a little kitbashing with some 25th ann. GI JOE pilots (I used Capt. Ace and Wild Bill from the dragonhawk) can make for some n...

Nice. I had the same ceiling fan as a kid. F4U fan for the win! I still have everything but the applique that makes the body. I plan on mounting it in my garage as a vent fan for when I am working on my Mustang.

They had a 104 on static display somewhere in Burbank, CA. It was a NASA bird, white with a blue stripe on each side of the fuselage. The thing looked fast sitting still, a total speed needle.

Re: JSI F-14 Tomcat Pros - The Good about the Tomcat

I can't wait for my bird to visit TKO this summer to transform into VF-101 Grim Reapers AD 160 low vis circa 2004, but after looking at these pics, I have an ugly feeling it won't be sitting alone on my shelf for long.... They just look so good in multiples that I can easily see some other great sch...

Any ways to stiffen up a JSI Tomcat? Also, wing mechanism?

Hi guys. I have to say, I love my JSI Tomcat, but that thing just feels rickety. When I pick it up I feel like I'm moving a jigsaw puzzle, and I'm not a fan. Granted, I am used to 1/72 scale diecast that are hefty and solid, but still, I can't stand just watching parts and armament fall off every ti...

Re: 1/6 727 movie prop

I recognized the plane as soon as I saw it. I knew it was the one from US Marshals, that is a great flick that I've watched many a time. I don't think that is a Boeing 727 though, but I could be wrong. If I had the money and the space, I'd totally buy them, sell one, and display the other because th...

Oh man, seeing as I am a freak for the "I have the only one" status in collecting, I don't think I could have let that out of my sight. I do love the one with the dragon on the box though...good thing I'm limiting myself to Navy jets for my 1/18 collection or I'd be chasing that one down.

Re: GI Joes for pilots in JSI Tomcat?

Haha, talk about fickle, I am changing plans again. I re-tried fitting my ROC Wild Bill into the cockpit and was able to get him in both seats without removing his legs. I watched several videos of F-14s shot in the cockpit and realized my smaller Joes pictured above were sitting way too low in thei...

Re: 1/18 Aircraft wish list? Just for fun.

Seems like F-4 Phantoms are a popular pick in here, I hope the companies take notice. I'm ashamed to say I don't know 3/4 of the older planes you guys have mentioned, I've always been more of a jet age guy. I'd also like some carrier deck tractors and maybe a SH-60 SeaHawk. I know there is a Blackha...

Re: GI Joes for pilots in JSI Tomcat?

Well, I tried fitting my 25th Wild Bill in just for shiggles, and it didn't happen, he's just too tall and even when I finally got the legs in his head was against the ejection seat loops. I am bidding on an SRO Ace, because I figure he and the green Dragonhawk Wild Bill I have will make nice "outsi...

Any plans for a 1/18 Hornet re-release from BBI?

Hey guys. I know this summer is going to see the reissue of the F-16 in new colors from BBI, and I was wondering if anyone knows if a Hornet reissue is in the pipeline. I'm hoping the F-16 does well and prompts BBI to issue a new 1/18 Hornet, because the original bunch are extraordinarily expensive ...

Well, if we're gonna go there with the B-52, I'll take a C-130 in Fat Albert colors with JATO bottles strapped to the ass end  . But realistically, I hope the 1/18 market isn't dead but just dormant and soon enough another company is gonna blast us with something like the Tomcat. I've colle...

1/18 Aircraft wish list? Just for fun.

Hey guys. Just wondering what your wish list was for 1/18 aircraft, and what odds you see of them being produced. I'd like: F-4J Phantom (preferably in Showtime 100 colors)....odds of an F-4 might be better than most after the Tomcat, especially if it was already considered once. There might be some...

Re: GI Joes for pilots in JSI Tomcat?

Found the base for my second pilot: http://www.yojoe.com/action/05/images/shipwreck9_large.jpg Starting with VvV Shipwreck. I just scored an all gray version of this figure on EvilPay for $6, pretty sure it is a prototype or a test shot. Going to swap in VvV Duke's head, VvV TeleViper lower arms for...

Re: GI Joes for pilots in JSI Tomcat?

Well, I just started buying stuff for pilot 2. Going to start with Ace unless a Slipstream pops up. Swapping head for VvV Duke, lower arms for VvV Televiper to give him a rolled up sleeve look. Probably will use Duke's lower legs as Ace's look like the boots are wrapped in ribbon. Going to add the v...

Re: GI Joes for pilots in JSI Tomcat?

Also, I'm currently using two v.3 Slipstreams for my F-14; I think it is is GI Joe's most realistic looking pilot, though this fig is a bit hard to find. I think there's a bit of a passing resemblance to Maverick from Top Gun so I like him piloting my F-14 :) http://www.yojoe.com/action/04/slipstre...

Re: GI Joes for pilots in JSI Tomcat?

Change of plans. After reading this thread again and realizing that Air Command Ace won't fit in the Tomcat without it's legs ripped off, I deduced that a Wild Bill of the same size will require the same leg-ectomy and abandoned him. However, he did come with an awesome vest that has greatly decreas...

Re: GI Joes for pilots in JSI Tomcat?

Your pilot is awesome. I love the helmet, but that site is down. My VvV Ace figs each came with a helmet, so I am using those. I am going to do a VvV Ace head, torso, and arms with VvV Stryker legs and then a 25th Wild Bill with holsters and goofy belt buckle removed. Both are going to be repainted ...

I forgot the one in my living room, an F-14A from Dragon Wings in the 1976 U.S. Bicentennial celebration scheme. I bought this one because it was flown out of NAS Miramar back when it was Top Gun, and I was living right there in Fightertown USA. http://www.awesomecollectables.co.nz/uploads/84259/ima...

Re: any 1/18 US Navy Carrier style diorama pieces out there?

Oh, and I am aware that at no time an F-8 Crusader and F/A-18F Super Hornet were ever on the same deck together, but it's kind of an all-star carrier assortment :D I also know that the boarding ladder and platform aren't accurate, but they don't have integrated boarding ladders on the 1/72 stuff and...
