Re: ONE OF THE MOST RARE 1/18 P-51 Mustang EVER ?
Looking more closely at it, I am now certain that it is one of maybe 3-4 prototypes that were made up that way. China usually sent 3-4 samples when there was a new tooling pattern. Not knowing where the other 2-3 may be or if they were destroyed or discarded, and knowing that they were not supposed ...

Re: ONE OF THE MOST RARE 1/18 P-51 Mustang EVER ?
I seem to recall that 21C initially did in fact receive a couple early production samples with the props like the one in the photos. I remember Roy showing me the prototypes and explaining that the Props were going to be the gloved D version prop that we typically see and currently have. It was a co...

Re: JSI Black Knights vs. Spot Cat.
The hard points on the Black Knights are very different. I don't see how to convert them with out some major cutting, glueing to make work. In the case of the LANTRN Pod hard point, it's a totally different hard point from the air to air and would simply not work unless you had a a replacement from ...

Those are both great schemes, I like that you did the black diamonds however. I had considered this scheme numerous times in the past myself but always held off due to the gun modification areas. I like how you handled yours. It was a simple and effective solution. Really looks great.

Re: Custom painted 1:18 Aircraft TKO UPDATED 1/15 pair of F
Good questions: 1. The factory Tampo paint markings do have some "build" when they go down. This means that they sometimes have a tendency to have a visible edge to them when you paint over. However most 21C models tampo were thinner and many cover up as is just fine. That said- 2. Silver will show ...

Re: Custom painted 1:18 Aircraft TKO UPDATED 1/15 pair of F
I just came back on the site after a long hiatus and saw this thread. I needed a serious break from the custom paint thing as I got pretty burned out after too many tomcats. Sorry to gliderdwm, for missing your messages and thus not getting back to you my being MIA was to blame- If you are still in ...

Re: New Merit 1/18 DAUNTLESS DISCUSSION
Just opened and assembled my Dauntless. The wings were a huge pain to get seated correctly... Otherwise- this really is an impressive model. I was cautious about the idea of a more accurate model that had potential to be so incredibly fragile! But this plane is actually quite sturdy and I feel as th...

Re: Any Interest in a 1/18th F-117 ?
I would be interested if it were more like the Horton... Molded with gear. I would not be too good at getting all those angles the same on both sides of the aircraft while managing glue, finished edges, etc... Neat plane though!

After messing around with my Ho 229, I do believe I will be interested in an S2. This time around I think I will have you paint it for me as well. I like that DAK smoke ring bird.
I might also be interested in a second plane but in finished / primer only...

Re: 1/18 Ho-229 Full Build Series-2 ??
Arrived home tonight from my trip to find my Pickel Horten! I have unpacked and inspected all parts, called Matthew to say thanks and to get a couple helpful hints on final assembly! Tomorrow I will begin to glue a couple parts on and then it's onto paint! I am really excited about this plane and ca...

I can't wait to get the mighty 229! Really good work. It's hard to believe that this was once a Roto mold that was flying through your yard! The time, effort, skill, and scale of this project is mind blowing! Everyone who got one got ONE HECK of a GREAT DEAL!

Re: Fw-190 A Modicification in 1/18 Scale
Hey Matthew- I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a Fw-190A in my collection. Given our recent Ho 229 discussions about the time investment, cost, and what that translates into the ROI I would suggest that you do the following: Nose, Spinner, & Prop for $85. I don't think that the skills required to graft one ont...

I have 2 planes with electric motors and wing nav lights. I have an Me-109e and an F4-u Corsair. I had visions of doing more but found it took too long, lost interest. The final results are cool though!

Re: BBI announces f-18c
MOQ (minimum order quantity) is a driving force of pricing that faces any manufacturer. The MOQ for a large 1:18 plane is around 2,500 pieces. The cost to fire up the molds, make the tampo print patterns, labor, packaging, and shipping make these planes much more expensive than the old days of Retai...

My understanding is that both the t-Bolt and Spitfire molds are toast and have been since 2007-2008? somewhere in that timeframe.

I had to cancel one of my custom project plans due to the shortage of the D engine as well... My set from my Pukin Dogs is removable and I have had similar thoughts of seeing what Pickel could do to make us up more.

Re: Counterfeit Help?
The BBI hellcat stands as my most disappointing 1:18 scale aircraft I own. I absolutely hate the construction and execution of this model. The flaps are bad and floppy, the Canopy is oversized, the wing fold is horrid, the main landing gear barely work and typically don't come down and forward enoug...

Re: New Merit 1/18 DAUNTLESS DISCUSSION
The Dauntless, if made as people are suggesting, will be fragile and will have to be handled carefully. But this brings up a question of where do we want 1/18 to go, do we want it to be playable value for GI JOE and Star Wars type stuff or do we want detailed display models in this scale. I think w...
