Re: Amercom H-21 Shawnee

My second Amercom, an H-13 Sioux arrived Saturday. I'm thinking I'll pass on any further Amercom products. http://www.skypirate.net/warbirds/amercom_h-13_sioux_2.jpg http://www.skypirate.net/warbirds/amercom_h-13_sioux_3.jpg http://www.skypirate.net/warbirds/amercom_h-13_sioux_4.jpg http://www.skypi...

Re: Amercom H-21 Shawnee

Well the good news is the seller is going to replace it. But as many of you have pointed out and I've gathered, it seems to be hit or miss. I went ahead and opened up the current one and the landing gear was actually more broken than it appeared. One segment even had been broken multiple times with ...

Re: Amercom H-21 Shawnee

I've sent a message noting I've received it broken, waiting to hear back. A replacement would certainly be preferable as I would worry about the durability of the repair. I hope they'll offer a replacement. With this packaging being so transparent, it would be hard to miss the broken pieces and ther...

Amercom H-21 Shawnee

I purchased a 1/72 H-21 from a Polish seller on eBay and it arrived with some of the landing gear completely sheared off and other portions partially broken. The shipping box and the clam shell packaging are all in good condition, so I'm not sure how the damage happened, other than it looks a lot li...

Re: Corgi Richtofen planes

Yeah, I've got their most recent Albatros ordered and on the way right now. The wing detail is quite impressive, lozenge and the tape. I have an over abundance of triplanes and was definitely ready for an Albatros or two. Very happy with the Corgi B-17 and the Dr.1. I think plastic results in the be...

Corgi Richtofen planes

Since October, I've been on mild surge in acquiring a lot of past items on my wish list. This included the Corgi Fokker Dr.1 AA38304 and the Albatros D.V AA37801. The Fokker is pretty outstanding, but the Albatros is a bit of a let down. Comparing the two is like comparing apples to oranges, very di...

Re: RC Plane Talk

Really, you just leave it them out. YOu get a balsa wood frame that is covered and is ready to accept the electronics. That's about it. You don't want it to fly, don't put them in. I will be getting that Eflight fokker! Been wanting one!!! Thanks, I wasn't sure about the prop and motor situat...

Re: Good deal on ME262 white 8

I bought a Putt Putt Maru for a great price from her last month, received it in 2 days. Apparently got a lot of items at an estate sale that her husband encouraged her to get. She had a great selection of items for the last few weeks.

Re: Color of plastic

I don't know if this adds anything to the already made replies....but here goes. Most modelers will tell you that, when choosing to paint a "primer" color, you should start with a color opposite of the final color. Therefore, a silver or "natural metal" final coat should have a darker (best would b...

Re: Color of plastic

I know the answer to this one! If you look at the first few releases from 21C, the S1 P-51, S1 Me-109e, S1 Corsair, S1 Stuka and couple others, you will see that they are molded in a base plastic color. It was slightly cheaper to do this but the realism on the paint is less than it otherwise could ...

Color of plastic

I recently picked up a Putt Putt Maru, brand new, but minor paint wear in some places showing the black plastic underneath. So, my question is, why not silver/metallic colored plastic? Cost? Repaints?

Thanks for the answer. Yeah, I lucked out and got a B-17G Mount N' Ride for a very reasonable price a few years back.

B-17 Nine o Nine sold on eBay for $577

I don't collect for profit, but I noticed a Corgi 1/72 B-17, Nine o Nine, sold for $577. Any thoughts on this price? Was it the history associated with the plane, number missions, still flying? Rarity? Appearance? Collectors competing for a complete set? Some combination of the above?

Re: 1/18 searchlight

You might consider a Maglite LED retrofit or Maglite LED conversion kit. As mentioned by granch, LEDs tend to be very directional and throw out of respectable amount of light with a couple of AAs.

Just be careful about the amount of heat they throw off.

Thanks. Wish I had shot them with a different lens to get a greater depth of field. Of course, just getting some dedicated lighting would be a better solution. Yeah, I had two King Tigers, two Tiger I's ( 61001 and 61019 ) and a Karl Morser Zui. Recently, we had that recent thread comparing the Pant...

It also came with some figures. For $45 and under $10 for shipping, I felt like I got my money's worth.

There's a few more here.
