Thanks! It was a lot of work, I even got it signed by the remaining Doolittle Raiders. Both the Mosquito and B-25 are modified Flying Styro Kit models.

Re: How big should 1/18 scale aircraft get?

I would love to see larger 1/18 models. Over the last several years, I have been getting into RC planes, so I am used to the size, I have built a 1/18 B-25 and 1/15 Mosquito, and a 1/18 F-106 and B-29 is next. And they will both fly! I think some twins like a tigercat, P-61, or OV-10 would be perfec...

I've still got a spare Huey on standby since you first looked at this project.

Glad to see this old project is still happening. If you need another Huey, I've had a spare set aside since you first proposed the idea..

Wow, great work there. You should feel pretty proud of that build. It really captures the simple cockpit / engine / frame construction of the real helicopter. Almost looks like a dragonfly insect. I can easly picture that on a simple grass or dirt diorama base. That has crossed my mind. Now if some...

Re: 1/18 Scratchbuilt H-13E/Bell 47D

Thanks for the compliments. I have to say, looking at the finished product has well justified the time I put into it. Also, funny story about the canopy. This part concerned me the most about the entire build. I knew that if I could finish that, the rest of the model I could produce on my own. So, t...

How did you do the canopy? It looks amazing!
Thanks for the kind words! I made the canopy by vacuforming, which meant first making a wooden mold. That was probably the single most difficult piece to cut and shape that I have worked on.

1/18 Scratchbuilt H-13E/Bell 47D

Thought I would share some pictures of my work, figured since there has been so little new 1/18 recently that I would post here instead of the customs section. This Korean War H-13 has been the product of about 2 years of scratch building. The entire structure is made of brass tubing, with plastic a...

Re: 1/18 Custom Coast Guard Dauphin FS/FT

I was hoping for around $100. Let me know if that is reasonable, and it is negotiable. I'm honestly not sure what the value for customs like this should be, so that's why I didn't give a single fixed price. A lot of work has gone into building this, but at the same time, I don't want to overcharge a...

Nice job, B-29. 8) Did you also do some staining? I can't tell by the pictures. Thanks for the compiments everyone. Yes, I did add exhaust staining but other than that it is clean. From what I've been able to find, Minsi III was typically very clean. I will see if I can get better pictures to show ...

So, some people caring about price and size elect the A-4 Skyhawk, followed by the AV-8B Harrier. What about a small helicopter, if the MIL-PH MI-24 doesn't get out of dreams? There's not much choice in the US inventory. Or back to the Vietnam Era, with a simple Kiowa, a Cobra... When nothing new,t...
