Hmm, well if they do return, hopefully the ambitious releases they announce will make it to fruition this time around, and the quality control is superb. I did prefer BBI's models, but 21st is still sorely missed.

Most all of the gear doors have a unique feature that is not typical of releases in the past. They don't swing like they are on a hinge. they pull out in one direction and then swing open. So you just don't want to force them or assume that they swing like a normal hinge. They are not hard to opera...

Ya know, I wonder how Flyingmule was able to get the canopy and airbrakes to stay open. I wonder if there are some detents molded in?

Also, to TKO and others who have the bird, what's the best approach to opening the gear doors? You guys have mentioned that they are spots to look out for.

Snake, i'm guessing $200 would be what it would cost to get TKO to fix it. Shipping from the US to Canada was around $45 iirc and that was being a bit optimistic with weight. Shipping TO the US from Canada will be a fair bit more, without question. I'm guessing and this is purely a guess, that TKO'...

I'm just curious, what color should the TCS lense be? Would it really light up at all? I've seen several people comment on it, but no one says what is correct.
Shouldn't light up at all, should just be clear.

VF-41 Black Aces or VF-154 PREFERABLY FINAL CRUISE SCHEMES(which the mold is accurate for), WITH LANTIRN and LGB's. Possibly a TARPs pod.

Don't know if a late model A was ever dressed up as Vandy 1 but that would be an awesome scheme too.

To restore faith, simply put, JSI just needs to make sure the next run of F-14's lack spots, and doesn't have loose parts like the horizontal stab connection, canopy, AWG-9, no red TCS lens, et al.

Hey TKO, definitely looking forward to see how your "fixed" Tomcat looks like! Also thanks for the heads up on how the plane turned out compared to the 21st/BBI planes.

UPDATE: Got my F-14 Special Edition Spotcat tonight. It's official! The spots are indeed as bad as they look in photos. There really was a part of me that hoped this was not true but there is no denying it. The plane look flat out BAD! Even when you stand back a few feet. They almost seem to get wo...

Thanks for raising the question and helping to answer it. Let me clarify and confirm what I meant to say. thatf14guy is correct. I paint the airplane for you using a vinyl stencil mask process. What this means is that there are no decals used and I paint the markings on the plane. It's as close to ...

his place is getting unreal in the amount of whining that takes place. You are never satisfied with anything. If you all are not bemoanig the end of 1/18, you are nitpicking every little detail of the models that are released. So you all can take comfort in your little den of misery I'm done. I've ...

I'd love to see the Hun, hopefully JSI makes one(un spotted and more accurate than the Tomcat). I'd want a D model then maybe a Wild Weasel, definitely wand the D with CAS weapons though. I remember this being on one of those lists that 21st had back in the day. This, the Phantom, and if we are talk...

Agreed, I'd love to see the original route and go with the P-51B/C's. We've got enough D's for now, unless of course JSI managed to get the tooling for the P-51 with exposable gun vents. I remember 21st always seeing it was going to be released, and I'm surprised it never was. The mold wasn't perfec...

1/18 P-51 Wishlist

The P-51 Mustang is a very popular warbird and one that I think we will always see in 1/18 scale, one way or another. Since I think it's inevitable that it will return(as in new P-51's), I was curious as to what you guys would want to see. I want to see RAF P-51B's with malcolm hoods, and I hope JSI...

all they have to do from now on is not ruin the paint jobs stupidly. Unweathered aircraft are fine if they feel they can't do proper weathering on them.
21st's F-104's, F-86's, and MIG-15' are prime examples of this. All of mine are unweathered but still look fabulous, especially the Sabre.

Yeah the new shots look like there is a LOT of light involved, via flash. It does look better but I want to see it under normal lighting.
