Re: Best-Engineered 21C 1/32 Plane
The FW 190A and F. Hands down the best engineered. Better detailing than anything in 1/18 and all the while keeping those retractable landing gears spot on to scale. 2nd place for 21st 1/32 is tie between the Zero's and the 109 G.

Re: 1/18 Aircraft wish list? Just for fun.
1. F-15A or C or E Strike Eagle. Never was a fan of the two seat version of this jet. If you're gonna make a two seat, then go all out and make the baddest of them all. 2. F-4B or C or D or J or N or S. Basically the short nose phantoms. The E and the F versions are ugly. 3. F-100D 4. A better P-38....

Re: Any plans for a 1/18 Hornet re-release from BBI?
If they do re-release the F/A-18 I sure hope they improve the mold. The Sidewinder missile tip/attachment/etc is terrible, the gear doors need to be separated and hinged to look more like the real Hornet, and do a better job on plugging the screw holes to make them more flush with the body. They got...

Re: I hate testors paints
Zach, Have you ever tried the primer sprays from Games-Workshop? They are every bit as good as Tamiya Primer. They only come in black or white and the can is actually bigger than the typical Rustoleum can. $15. They spray extremely thin and flat but very durable. Way better than Testors. Only retail...

Re: My 1/18 F-14 Display (ONGOING)
Ferrari Man, That's a good attitude regarding VF-41. Super classy scheme. I have to give you the heads up on sanding. I did a 1992 VF-33 Starfighters CAG decomission scheme last year. To get it's configuration correct I sanded the bumps. Didn't have to touch the vents since they were correct. I didn...

Re: My 1/18 F-14 Display (ONGOING)
For all you Final countdown fans did you know that the Vf-84 did sport zero kill markings and from what I have heard they stayed on the f-14s for some a length of time after the filming. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c354/coolhandlukesd/KeyWest002.jpg Here is some Topgun humor form the guys at ...

Re: My 1/18 F-14 Display (ONGOING)
When you're referring to Jolly Rogers, are you thinking of keeping it in the same 1988-1989 scheme JSI was intending to do, or are you thinking of a different VF-84 era? I'm assuming you are meaning the 1977-early 1978 Black Aces. That scheme is kick@$$! Evaluators - VX-4. I'm assuming you mean Play...

Re: Weathering
If you're only method of weathering is to airbrush some panel lines and some spots and that's all then leaving it flat is fine (a la the BBI method). But if you're wanting to use the old fashioned thinned paints dripped into panel lines and excess wiped and smeared then you must have a smooth clear ...

Re: Selling my 1/18 VF-33 Starfighters F-14
I think for my next scheme I will do VF-24 Renegades CO bird from the 1994 NAS Miramar Airshow. It's the same block type build as the Starfighters I did. That will require removing all the ECM bumps everywhere but leaving the NACA gun vents like they are and then altering the sidewinder launch rails...

Re: Selling my 1/18 VF-33 Starfighters F-14
Maybe so. I sold it to Jay (JOC) he was on the USS America in 1992 when he retired and was familiar with that exact Tomcat. He will definitely appreciate it much more than I could have.

Re: bbi Golden Dragon Hornet colors
I need to make an edit. Dark ghost gray is also on the vertical stabilizers inside and outside. Except of course when the squadron paints the CAG or CO's plane in full color.. Something to think about if you're doing the Red Devils scheme all over again. Pretty much all of the photographs of that pa...

FS 36320 Dark Ghost Gray for the top (of front and rear fuselage, spine, engines, and wings) and a little bit creeps over the top onto the sides of the front fuselage and that small area on the back fuselage under the vertical tails but between the front and back horizontal wings, and also behind th...

Re: Pre-Built Pegasus Bell X-1 Up on BadCat
I very disappointed with this model as well. My kit arrived in the mail yesterday from BadCat. I bought one of these kits so my son could have his first build. It appears to be pretty simple and basic with large enough pieces so it's easy enough to build. However the decal sheet that came with this ...
