I believe there also was a fuse setting machine that one of the gun crew inserted the "nose" of the round into and it set the altitude on the proximity fuse. It is located on the left side of the gun itself...

Hi I always had trouble with that kind of track coming apart. guess I'll try super glue. Thanks, Take a small nail, heat it on the stove and press/melt the pins on the assembled joint...and glue it. Do they still show that process in the instructions? It would not surprise if they dont as so many y...

The sand bags and lumber were part of the original kit. The "Screemin` Mimi" was that bare hull Sherman, the cast hull version I think. Shep Paine`s diorama booklet had a section on converting the bogies to the later version. I have a Brumbar, M3 Grant, M3 Lee and the Wirbel in the original White Mo...

Yes they are the same kits. I built the M3 Lee a while back and nothing seemed to be different. The M4, which was marketed as the "Hedgehog" by Monogram looks the same too, just have not assembled that one yet. They both still have the vinyl tracks, same as the original. Revell would do well if they...

About the conversion candidate being a Chevy, not a Ford, DO`OH, as Homer Simpson would say.

Besides the Brits having Chevy trucks, didn`t the French use them too before they were overrun by the Germans?

Nice work there, Grunt1...

Good info. The Ford trucks were very common in the German forces, being the second or third most common maker for the Reich. The 1 1/2 ton truck and 3 ton truck are virtually identical which makes the 1 1/2 ton model useful for such modeling ideas. The one spotting feature with these trucks is the w...

1:32 is 54mm and 1:48 is roughly 30mm I think. That would be the average height of a standing guy.

1:48 is also the same scale as O scale trains...

Sources for HO armor decals

Does anyone have a source for 1:72 or smaller armor decals, specifically US WW2?

I have been building a bunch of Flames of War miniatures (1:100 scale but some 1:72 decals may work) and small scale decals are becoming scarce.

Yes he passed away about six months ago. He left arrangements and a foundation that will keep his collection at the same place and intact. It sounded pretty specific so hopefully the collection will be safe for a long time to come.

`

I did some quick photographic research and I found photos of early PZKW IIIs (G versions and later) with the same hook on the rear deck. In the photos where the tank is equipped with a tow cable, the hook is a tie down point for the cable. Some pictures show the cable, fastened in the hook just belo...

Do you mean hook located on the rear of the top deck, between the spare wheels? I dont know if the move the tank by hooking up there as there are the normal heavy eyelets on the lower hull. It may be a lift lug for removing the deck plate...

Does anyone remember the B17 put out by Franklin Mint way back when they started doing the cars? Everything worked on it it including operating landing gear, bomb bay doors, turrets and the t...

Just like any model, clean it up well by removing the cast lines and sprue tabs. It has been a few years since I built the M8 version of the same model, but they were pretty decent kits for the money. One situation I ran into with older Monogram kits is that the plastic seems to get brittle with age...

Just off hand, it is much smaller than the 1:32 FOV CCKW so my guess, as I always thought, is that it is 1:35. The Monogram book lists the first 1:32 military vehicle as a PZKW IV in 1970. They did a snap together half track and jeep in 1:32 back in 1976, which I never heard of. The Patton, Cargo tr...

It's 1/35 and very old. It was first issued in 1957! More of a collectors item now. Correct. The eager Beaver is actually a M34 I think as it has single rear wheels as opposed to dual like on the M35. I think the later boxes from the late 70`s sold it as a M35. Revell is slowly reissuing Monogram v...
