Re: Where is the 1/18 A-1 Skyraider, F-4 Phantom and F-15 Ea
Of course. But as many here have mentioned. The days of large models is probably over. I was recently speaking with my business partner in China. And he even admits that it is no longer feasible for US companies to manufacture models in China. The current costs of production have priced the boutique...

Re: Where is the 1/18 A-1 Skyraider, F-4 Phantom and F-15 Ea
The Phantom is in my office, along with a couple line errors and first shots. I have a White 7 with orange intakes. It was the only one accidentally produced with this configuration. Some interesting things came off the line....

If it is the same company I think Merit got the Dauntless from... they were working on a 1:18 B-17 as well...!

Re: New Merit 1/18 DAUNTLESS DISCUSSION
We thank you for your support and apologize to have raised so many concerns,.... Yes, there will be a model kit of the SBD-3 released as a model kit. This is our way to overcome the high cost of tooling and allow us to present all new tooling item to 1/18 collectors, as well as an item to invite mo...

Re: New Merit 1/18 DAUNTLESS DISCUSSION
I would like Jim@Merit to tell us if the above information is just the rumor or it is correct. I think the rumors are true. I have looked at Merits' pictures and cannot find a single snap-latch or screw boss on the entire plane. You would expect to see a boss near the front and rear of the cockpit....

Re: WHO WILL MAKE PILOT"s for the Dauntless ?
JASON, Welcome back. Can you update us on Admiral's 1/18 projects such as the F-4 Phantom, World War I fighters and the Mosquito? Thanks. Thank you for the warm reception. I never left; I read the post on this forum at least once a week. I still enjoy this hobby. As for Admiral Toys: I am no longer...

Re: New Merit 1/18 DAUNTLESS DISCUSSION
I think Merit has a beautiful master SBD. It looks as though this is an actual test shot. So what you see is what you will probably get. Admiral Toys ran into several issues when designing this model. Here are a couple of issues we found with crew members and the SBD: (I posted this under the "who w...

Re: WHO WILL MAKE PILOT"s for the Dauntless ?
I think it will be difficult to fit both crew members in Merit's SBD in its current design/configuration. When Admiral Toys was working with the SBD we ran into several issues with fitting both crew members in the cockpit. First, the ring that the rear gunner sits in is very narrow. it is almost imp...

I respectfully disagree with all of this logic. Subject matter might be a constituent to selling more aircraft in Asia; however, it is not the subject matter that is the deciding factor for these foreign customers, size matters. There is a reason that only a handful of factories make 1:18 scale mode...

This plane looks awesome! It will go well with "The Temptation" Admiral Toys had planned for release, also a pin-up nose art aircraft. I think there needs to be more of this in the industry. However, I have noticed one thing about this aircraft and that is the way they are marketing it. I am not sur...

Unlike 21st's attempts at the B-25 and F-4, lets try to keep this thread from being de-railed. Jason Did you pick up the JSI F-14? Jolly Roger, No, I have not picked one up, yet. I would like to have one but I will wait for the next round. I, like many, am not a big fan of the Spots. I do dig TKO's...

BadCat, in its blog, said that returns from customers killed Admiral. It also said that returns also led TRU and WM to discontinue the 1:18 lines, which then helped lead to the demise of 21C. True or not, it was an interesting note that I have heard yet. You all know that Admiral Toys has a return ...

I think you are correct. It probably comes down to the history of the 747 and how nothing looked like it until it came out. That distinguishable hump is iconic. Furthermore, Boeing has taken the steps to protect the form of the 747. I looked it up on Wikipedia just to see if there was anything http:...

Jason, so if you don't use the name, aside from that 747, you can make any aircraft and not have to pay the maker as long as you dont put the name? Example, like if I wanted to make a 1:18 Scale F-22 Raptor, but not have to pay Lockheed... as long as it doesn't say F-22 Raptor anywhere and I call i...

Why would JSI send over 4, 20' containers and not 2, 40' High Cubes? They could fit more for less that way. My guess is that a few more than you would think were sent over. You usually never make fewer than 3-5 thousand of your first release of new model. That is the one that sells out the fastest....

Their licensing agreements have a clause that says they, as licensee, will take legal action against any third party that attempts the importation or sale of any product protected by trade market and lice...
