Re: No Sweat
The rotorhead in the picture link from the army-info website was actually a UH60 Blackhawk, not an Apache - the engine "pod" However you deicde to do it, good luck! That blackhawk rotorhead pic was for me.....I am doing a blackhawk project. We both know what an Apache rotorhead looks like. :...

Re: No Sweat
Not phased a bit....he did the AH-64A model used by the IDF for some years now....I'm doing the Longbow version with radome. Two quick points - Did you know the Apache D can be flown without the radar? I think it's the Royal Netherlands Air Force who are buying something like one radar for every fi...

Why does Tod hate 1:18th scale? :? Mebbe he just likes to work in "inch" sizes - why work to a height of 3.78" when you can work to 3" or 5" (why not 4"?.. that's a bit bigger than 1:18th but not too much for the casual observer) ? Does anyone still make model cars in 1/24th? That would look about ...

But on one of the vids he says he won't sell them as they cost about $4000 each! (Obviously it's the mechancis that cost so much - either that, or someone needs to send him to Target!!!)

Re: Gungans: Source of Advanced German WWII Technology!?
Not a chance. The Germans were far too successful to have used Gungan lu-sah. It's more likely the Germans presuaded the annoying little buggers to give their tech to America - I mean, how many "American" designs did not borrow from other nations' work?? (Now please excuse me while I find a ...

Best planes
Of the ones I have, the C21 'Snake' Cobra has the best paint scheme - the rest are all in "tactical" colours - boring grey or green. Sizewise, and for sheer presence, it'd have to be the F16. (The others I have are the Blackhawk, Apache and Kiowa Scout helis and the F18). Since I don't have much tal...

Nice job! Is it based on a real Russian display team, or just a "translation" like Krazny Strela (excuse my pidgin Russian  ) - the only stuff I can find on Mig 15/17-mounted red-painted Russian display teams says the top was red but the undersides were always light blue with the aircraft seri...

I think we're missing the point a bit here; GI Joe is a real American hero - how many other nations have called all their soldiers "GI"s?? But setting aside an attack of over-reaction, why should the movie not be about a multi-national organisation? There are nations outside the 50 states who have s...

3. F/A Super Hornet (now we could have Hornets from squadrons that made the transition from Tomcats to SuperBugs!) Nice idea, but there's too many differences to make this really practical: Longer fuselage Bigger wings, tailplane and fins Totally different engine air intakes and LERX I'd love to se...

The Land Rover is a little small even for the short wheelbase version, but it looks pretty cool and accurate (especially as it is a "toy" and not a model!) "in the flesh". The two in the bottom pic (the "recoil weapons set") look like a Brazilian APC I cannot remember the name of (the 6-wheeler) and...

It's a bit unfair on the modern stuff, innit? I mean, there's two HueyCobras (Snake and USMC Gray), several Hueys (several 1st Cav, Air America), the F104 Starfighters, the Hornet and Falcon, a couple of Kiowa Scouts and the Loach/Little Birds, the BlackHawk, PaveHawk and Apache and they all get lum...

As a thought, you could always just remove the blades entirely since you can't see them when spinning anyway. :D I've got my birds sat on shelves with the rotors off anyway as it takes up less space that way... less likely for little (nephews') fingers to grab or for bodies (little or large) to knoc...

so it's not just America going stupid over postal charges. Someone sent me an A4 envelope (what's that, about 12"x7"xflat) and because they'd only used a "standard" first-class stamp but the letter was a "large" letter, I had to pay over $2 to collect it due to "insufficient postage". I was ...

I saw this at the Big Lots in Suffolk VA yesterday and must say it is bigger than I thought it would be. Not sure if it's underscale, but if it is a full scale A-10 will be huge. F16 is about 32 foot wingtip rail to wingtip rail, the Warthog about 57 foot - nearly twice the span. Imagine if the F16...

When a toy tank from my local supermarket costs me £15 and comes with two or three figures plus machine guns, "barbed" wire and other goodies it's a toy. :) If it costs me nearer £50 and only has a driver, it's a Collectable or a model. :) Or, if it costs me £50, has no figures at all, boasts "stick...

From what I've seen over here in the uK, t seems to be just one or two factories that had a problem with paint.
