Humm - dressed up Tiger - don't kow about that - never thought of putting a dress on a Tiger I - be good for 21st though - could use the "Tickle Me Tolstoy" doll for the dress. As far as contest - never entered - ain't good enough - As said before - troops, these are toys not $2,500.00 scale models ...

Finally on the front side of the buying curve. Got 6 of the Target Tigers. Opinion - beats 21st in spades. Its the TRACKS, Tigers have one of the most unique tracks of anything and the Target Tiger has one of the best replicas out there. 21st are neither combat nor transport - try making the tracks ...

Scales

Interesting question. Back when I started, there were no "scales" at all - then came 1/72 1/85 which was all the "scale" you got. Then came "fit the box scales". I built whatever was there including BIG flying models. As the modeling world progressed, I went to 1/72 since you could get a variety and...

Hellcat Tires

I also had a problem with the wing dehedral and corrected it with super glue Aviatornut like you did. I agree its a magnificent Cat and one that was worth the wait. The only thing now I dont like is the tires which I would love to replace with Avenger tires if I could only get the Avenger tires off...

Bunker Hill TBF

Comes under - finally - although I've got 2 already in the all blue scheme. Size - why do you think it comes with folding wings ? I fit 3 TBF with wings folded where 2 F86s would be. In 65 years of model building of everything known to mankind, and no matter the location, no matter the type, and, in...

TBF Wing Sag

Got the same condition with 2 different units. Yes, the wings are a tad fat. Yes, there is a slight optical illusion due to the wing slats - BUT - due to the weight - they sag. My solution was to find the correct thickness of strip quarter inch plastic, cut a half inch piece, 2 per wing, extend the ...

AD

Able Dog - SPAD - The Truck - This is one of the most brilliant attempts in any scale. Covers Korean War - between Korea - and then Vietnam - colors from bright blue, to gray, to Southeast Asia - markings are some of the most colorful put on a plane. Even if one doesn't like the scheme - paint it. I...

BBI F6F

Question- are the photos of F6F of the actual issue by BBI ? If so - can I puke now or wait till later. 1. The photo canopy is great - for a F4F Wildcat - the 6 has a very distictive bulge. On the plus side - they've got the canopy for a 4 so that indicates their next issue will be a 4 which is not ...

Parts Raid

i wonder if someone raided it for parts and then returned it? Interesting aspect - thought about that but whoever got it, took the stuff out and resealed it as if it were original. The other thing is this is the only one I've found it at least 6 Walmarts in the area - and it was not with the other ...

Torpedo

Hey Old man, not to question your intelligence but when you took the plane out of the box did you happen to look under the cardboard for the parts you were missing. The rockets and the pitot tube were in one bag. If I remember correctly the torpedo was too. As for the partridge well I can't help yo...

Screw Caps and Details

I guess I have a different outlook on this. I picked up a TBF at WM and it lacked: screw covers pitot tube turret interior torpedo rockets and the partridge in the pear tree I just figured it was what it was. Covered the screw holes with a procedure I prefer over the screw covers they normally provi...

21st 51

Got a 21st 51 - only P-51 I ever owned, saw, or had pictires of that had folding wings - the warp is so bad it fits well on a carrier deck next to the F4U. And the prop - last time I saw a 51 prop like that was a belly in on snow. The tires - has anyone ever seen slicks on a 51 ? Yeah - the overall ...

BBI Killer

Think we're going down an interesting road. But do I know. The use of coat hanger wire is overkill but that's how I do things - plus I shortened the gear so there has to be a strong connection between the parts. The rest of the kit may destruct but never what I added. Tires - P-51s I use Klett 1 and...

BBI Killer

How did you "cant" the landing gear struts?? Pop the gear strut door off - save it cause it forms the basis to enhance the door. Use a vise grip to grasp the rivet holding on the wheel. Turn about 10 times then pull out the rivet, remove wheel. With the gear strut down at the vertical, use a wide bl...

BBI 51 Killer

BBI should be congratulated for their effort on the P-51 - but the F4U is better as it is more complex. Observations on "KIller": P-51 is good out of the box BUT needs a few touches to make it "look" like a P-51. Reconfigured 2 prop blades. Removed, replaced and lengthened the tail wheel strut. Shor...

P-38 Rockets

Took a razor saw, cut up close to the skin, cut the remainder, then used decal to cover the rectangular areas. Have to be very careful with a heat gun as the plastic is not styrene and, without saying much, 800 degrees sure melts BBI and 21st "stuff" but is the ONLY way on a lot of the fixes of thes...

TRU, Novi, MI, has 4 BBI F4Us (and 4 Old Crows). What I loved was the Corsairs have the Civil Registration # NX 6006 (?) under the horizontal stabilizer - which kinda says its a showbird. So hats off to BBI for having a very authentic scheme of some "intelligent" owner's idea of a historic bird. And...

F4U Korea Paint

I gather everyone is aware that all of BBI aircraft issues are "showplanes". The "Korean" Corsair is SO wrong for an actual aircraft. The P-51s suffer less but the paint schemes on the models do NOT really correspond to the actual aircraft. Course, the "other problem", neither Cripes a Mighty or Hur...

FW190 Red 3

When mine snapped, I drilled a hole through the leading edge of the wing the same size as coat hanger wire (great stuff for all kinds of use) and extended the hole through the gear bay walls. While I had the strut out, I measured the correct angle for gear stance, and drilled the hole through the st...
