Re: 21280 - Series 2 - MH-6 - Little Bird - U.S. Army - Reco
That model is really not of an MH-6 at all, but of a Hughes MD500 TOW Defender. It is from the same airframe family as the MH-6 series, but has different propulsion and equipment. It was never adopted by the U.S. military but was exported. Scroll down this page for a bunch of photos of Israeli ones....

Re: BBI announces f-18c
@Beeavision - sure, a 6 or 7 percent hike due to a combination of higher petroleum costs and wage pressure. But that hardly explains tripling the price of a plastic helicopter. On the other hand, a down economy is definitely going to impact the market for $30-50 military collectible toys. As in, imp...

Re: BBI announces f-18c
Of course prices have gone up, mostly because people are spending less on collectibles while at the same time the fixed costs like designing the product and its packaging, securing a production run, advertising, paying employees, etc, have not gone down. So we're paying $170 instead of $80 for the s...

Re: New 1/18 Mh-60 Black Hawk Review
I second everything pcoughran said. As far as the color, it is a very dark gray with dark OD markings. The antennas, rotors, and radomes are black. The real 160th SOAR helos are painted black, but the paint fades and becomes chalky on operational aircraft, so the color on this model is pretty accura...

Re: BBI announces f-18c
I had a look at the FB photos just now. It doesn't look bad overall, but the exhausts with the fan blades in there pretty much makes me lose all interest. I can understand a little loss of accuracy and detail, but that's just ridiculous.

Re: New 1/18 Mh-60 Black Hawk Review
Got mine a few days ago along with a couple extra Night Stalkers, I love it. Obviously not 100% accurate, but looks awesome nonetheless. I'm not crazy about the "SEAL" figures, so I have a bunch of the black-BDU BBI Delta guys from a couple of years ago on mine, they look menacing as heck. tmanthegr...

I got the 6 "new" FOV Recon Team guys. They'll go great with my BBI LAV and the older FOV Marines I already have.

Re: JSI spotless cat? YES its true!
This is what happens when you farm your production out to sweatshops. JSI doesn't actually make anything themselves, they contract the work out to a factory. Same as everyone else in 1/18, 1/6, etc these days. The people in these Chinese factories don't know or care anything at all about what they a...

Saw the Fearless Forces guys at my local Target yesterday. Picked up two of the individually packaged ones for customizing purposes. They are really cheap, around $2.50. Unfortunately, you won't be able to do an easy head swap between the FF guys and the Bravo Team figures. The FF guys have a huge b...

I picked up all of the Delta troopers and all of the non-diver SEALs at the Target in the mall in Poughkeepsie NY this past weekend. These guys are a step up in quality from the previous modern Marine and Army figures, although a lot of the parts are repaints from those earlier releases. I don't col...

The Stryker is neither a replacement for the Bradley, nor an attempt to duplicate the LAV-25. Compared to the LAV-25, the Stryker is larger, heavier, better armored, and carries more troops. The main difference though is that it has room and provision for much more communications and networking gear...

I'll have a look at the LAV when it hits the stores. I already have the BBI one, still MIB, and I haven't uncarded any of the several sets of FOV Marines I have, so I'm only likely to get the FOV LAV if it's really better than the BBI one. I'm a lot more interested in Army figures and vehicles, and ...

This happens every year though. I only collect modern, but I imagine it works the same way for every era. The cycle time on these figure lines is about a year. They make a slew of them, then wait until inventories drop, make more and maybe do a couple of repaints, then wait again until the next year...

Hehe. I was reading back in the thread and saw that you did the same thing with your Little Bird that I do with mine -- a couple of Chopper Harris driving and four Danny Lynch riding the pods. I actually wound up replacing my Choppers as Little Bird drivers with a couple of the old jumpsuit wearing ...

Most all of our tail markings (US ARMY & Tail numbers) are Grey. The Birds are all painted a flat CARC black. Good to know. I think the slight OD tone to BBI's scheme makes them look properly weathered. Like this pic: <a href="http://news.soc.mil/releases/News%20Archive/2007/March/Race%20Photos/070...

I went to the Target at the mall in Milford, CT yesterday. I picked up two each of the four new FOV paratroopers. They also had some of that other series, but frankly after looking at those I decided not to get any. I liked the little personal details on them, like the glow sticks and whatnot, but t...

Realistically, the color of the BBI Night Stalkers Little Bird is pretty accurate. If you look at this pic: http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo111/pcoughran/mh6.jpg You can see that the actual black markings on it (UNITED STATES ARMY) etc are much darker than the paint on the airframe. I have thre...

Well, a lot of BBI modern figures are pretty inaccurate. The figures that are in regular uniforms are just silly -- the latest Marine sniper, the Marine Force guys, and all of the earlier figures like the Delta / SEAL / SWAT figures which were basically the same 3 sets painted different colors. All ...
