Re: Hobbico goes Chapter 11, here comes that sinking feeling

Revell of Germany has stated the filing shouldn't affect their upcoming releases or distribution.

Good thing since their new P-51D early kit is just now out.

Re: Hobbico goes Chapter 11, here comes that sinking feeling

Chapter 11 protects you from creditors and gives you an opportunity to restructure. Not a great thing to have to do, but not as final as other bankruptcy types.

Re: Hobby Boss is releasing a 1:18 Harrier Kit!

And as it says right there on scalemates it is based on the Merit plane. It is simply the 2015 plane reformatted as a kit, just as they did for the Dauntless and recently did for the FW190-A. They altered some parts to make it less toy-like (the gear are now plug-in, rather than functional) but the ...

Re: Colors of USAAF bombs

OP 1664, which is the Navy's manual on ordnance from May 1947--and includes material on Army ordnance--basically calls for all Army bombs as being overall OD from 3/11/1942 forward with a 1 inch yellow band around the nose and base, and a 1/4 inch band around the bomb's center of gravity. Manufactur...

I've bought from him a few times, and his prices are usually a little below regular so I wonder what this thing is topping out at?

Re: Kubelwagen modifacataion

The real Kubel in the pic seems to be riding as high as the toy. Are you aware of how VW suspensions work? All stock air-cooled VWs rode high as they would drop somewhat under load. They did't get strut suspensions until the Super Beetle in the 70s. Now you have to put figures in it.

Re: HK Models 1/32 B-17G Build In Progress

Well, if I remember correctly, the thing kind of goes together in modules doesn't it? That sort of gives you the leeway to come and go with it. I wouldn't really worry, though. I know a few guys still working on theirs and they started when the kit was still new. And then there is the guy backdating...

Re: FOV

Even then, do we know if that vehicle was shipped without schurzen or is it possible it had and lost them before the pic was taken? In either case, it is unfortunate they aren't removable. I can rig the schurzen on my 1/35 kits to remain so (as it aids in painting the suspension) so I don't know why...

Re: FW 190 as a kit

That is exactly why they changed the landing gear for the kit. People who primarily build want all parts to be reasonably accurate, whereas diecast collectors like working features. We all know that requires certain tradeoffs in model accuracy to achieve, but if done creatively doesn't have to detra...
