Rigging a 72nd scale WWI biplane is a bit of a challenge, but it isn't anything impossible to do. These WofGW models are just too expensive for me to buy.
I like building my own rather than spending $40 plus for these.

Re: Why is the negativity on other forums not found here?
Upon re-reading the initial post, I thought of something else to add. I place a lot of the blame for negativity on the forums (especially the aircraft ones) squarely on Hobby Master. Years ago collectors (on the forums) used to be excited when a new catalog was being released. We couldn't wait to se...

Re: Why is the negativity on other forums not found here?
I agree with Harry's analysis. Different groups of collectors have different views as to how they see their hobby. Hard core die-cast collectors expect perfection and when they don't get it, well they aren't shy about complaining about it. And as many used to build plastic kits, they expect the same...

Re: Dragon P-47's?
There is nothing wrong with the Dragon P-47 - except for the fiddly parts you will have to attach. They are the most accurate die-cast P-47 in 72nd scale you can buy. There are many different schemes and they made both the razorback and the bubble top versions from both the European and Pacific thea...

Re: % of collectors that also build models to supplement the
I built kits as a kid. Stopped collecting models years ago until I discovered die-cast planes. Bought lots of die-cast planes for about ten years. Today, most of the die-cast plane models either don't interest me or the rare one that does interest me costs a lot more than I'm willing or able to pay....

Re: How wrong is too wrong?
aferg, I used to be a member of a group of plastic model builders who built everything to strict IPMS standards for competition. That meant that every single little detail had to be 100% accurate. The maintaining of that level of accuracy was incredibly stressful and eventually lead to me leaving th...

Re: Someone is smoking crack on Ebay...
For some people money is no problem They have plenty and spend it freely on whatever they want. So for those like myself who have very limited funds, a listing like this seems silly and outlandish. But remember that the value of any item is dictated by how much someone is willing to pay for it. pmma...

Re: First pics of AF1 B-25 appear
All good points aferguson. My Corgi Doolittle plane HAD those issues you listed originally, but I rectified them. I can't resell my model now, but that's ok - I don't really want to anyways. If I get the AF1 version, the extended landing gear isn't an issue as I'd put her on the ground anyway. Repai...

Re: First pics of AF1 B-25 appear
I have the original Corgi Doolittle bomber so I really don't need to buy one of these. The model looks okay for the cost and if a new collector can't find a Corgi one (or doesn't feel like paying through the nose for one), this model would be a good addition. If I do buy one of these, it is to do a ...

Re: Product Review: Air Force 1 1:144 B-29
I love the B-29 as well. This model had SO MUCH potential! Unfortunately, the bulbous gun turrets really ruined it. Too bad as I would have definitely spent the money even if it was only 1/144th scale. BTW - I love the B-29 pictures. I live in Connecticut and we have the New England Air Museum nearb...

Re: A few annoying questions lumped in one spot...
Hobby Master did make a set of 1/48th scale WWII pilots. They weren't "exactly" 48th scale, but they were close enough. The set included 3 US pilots and 2 British pilots. They are EXTREMELY hard to find. No kidding on those being hard to find! I bought a few packages of them when they were availabl...

Re: IXO "Junior" Question
IXO "Junior" planes were originally offered as part of a magazine subscription along with Altaya. They were never intended to be a "high quality" die cast. All the regular planes were made; Mustang, Spitfire, SBD, Fw-190 which while okay, you could get better quality models from Corgi, Dragon and Ge...

Re: Small display 1/48 Hell cat
Yet another great build, cnq 8) Why buy diecast, if your modelling talents are as good as this ? Exactly! What a beautiful build. Attention to detail (both by the kit manufacturer and the builder) makes this a jewel to display. cnq, did you use the kit supplied decals or are these aftermarket decal...

Re: New Members Introduce Yourselves!
Thank you for the welcome Axis Nightmare. I do enjoy learning about armor models, though I don't collect them. I enjoy them through other people's collections. I envy guys who get to work on old WWII warbirds. A B-25 is a sweet plane to work on. I built a Revell 1/48th B-25C in desert camouflage. I ...

Re: First pic of AF-1 Hawkeye
I try not to let the "bashing" of every model that goes on on some forums bother me. Sometimes the complaint is justified because there is a real major inaccuracy to the mold or markings. But often the "bashing" is done just for the sake of finding something (anything) wrong with a model just becaus...

Re: A Hansa-Brandenburg W-29 Arrives
Being an avid WWI collector I naturally looked into the line. The crude painting and assembly I could live with, but the price point of over $30 for these small models just doesn't strike a chord with me.
This model does show some improvement to the line and is one I may consider getting.
