Re: 1/18th F-14A "BLACK KNIGHTS" Tomcat, JSI's 2nd release

A-10LOADER, I'm not so disturbed by the scale effect. Of course, the shadow of the Cat is not appreciated... you could add a lot of coton balls to simulate some low clouds, just under the cat to cover the shadow. You can then move them as the sun turns... I'm a little bit disappointed by the ...

Re: Merit 1/18 AV-8B Pilot?

Tried with a PTE pilot: well, it works (without the lower legs), but the quality of this figure is so far away from the BBI one that it lowers considerably the look of the Harrier. Or it would need so much custom work for which I don't have the skill, so...

Re: WWII Airfield Diorama/Display Board

By the way, did somebody try with real grass still in its earth, but dried and painted? I saw in my garden that when it's late sommer, the grass isn't growing anymore as high as in spring, and it's not so difficult to remove a square slice with the showel. The grass may be a little bit too high for ...

Here it is. Rather expensive, but with remote control and gas engine power... I did'nt check if 130 cm/ 52 inch makes it a real 1:18 model. http://www.ebay.ch/itm/52-1-3m-1-18-Scale-RC-Motor-Torpedo-Boat-PT109-JF-Kennedy-Gasoline-26cc-Engine-/171531434408?var=&hash=item27f011f9a8:m:mic8D0rzYa1C_LKja...

Sorry, I have no idea. Living in Switzerland, I have the same problem. Very high shipping costs and import taxes... Is this Monogram model more detailled? I can't recognize the planes, some skyhawks, perheaps, but the others... At this scale, they are very small. You will not be able to paint the blue eyes of any pilot...

Re: Any Scoop on the new 1/18th Scale Harrier...?

tmanthegreat, I don't really know which camo is more accurate. Googling for pics, I got the impression that the more dark grey (gunship?) colour on the upper surface, looking more like we're used to see on the F-16, is more recent. On other (older?) pics, the Harrier seem's to have a lighter, unifor...

A-10 Loader,
I know, cause you told it to me before, that you don't want to spend more time on kit of the vessel. I thought it was smaller than the die-cast model you found.

Well, with my custom, the pilot gets in and out of the cockpit with no problem. Doesn't need the hot water soaking. As you, I had to remove the lower legs, though. Because I don't want to loose them, I found a place near the engine (thanks to Merit for the upper trap doors)

Merit 1/18 AV-8B Pilot?

I've got for Christmas the Harrier. Very impressive piece. Sadly, no openable canopy, so I tried it. Not such a good idea, it is strongly cemented to the fuselage, so I had some small cutter issues. Then, trying to seat a pilot in place: not possible! Even with removed legs, his torso is in the fron...

Wow, a very strongly stretched forced perspective, very nice! You could add a complete squadron flying over your Cat, scaled 1/32, 1/48, 1/72, 1/144... or a 1/600 one (scale of the carrier?) on final approach...
Can't wait to see how you're going to make the see!
