Keep checking ebay. Very often 1/18 planes show up that have been trashed by a kid playing with it.

Re: Colors of USAAF bombs
I found the same info, but there was nothing in it regarding the yellow bombs with the lengthwise black stripes. Those were probably not uncommon, because I have seen them fairly often in old photos. I don't think it was a Navy thing, because I only saw them in connection with USAAF bombers, and nev...

Colors of USAAF bombs
A question for our ordnance experts.... In some of the old photos, I see bombs in different color schemes. Some are O.D. with yellow bands, some have no color bands, and some are over-all yellow with lengthwise black stripes, usually four of them, the black stripes look like they were hand-painted. ...

Re: Considering a New Direction
The only dihedral issue I am aware of is the droopy wings on the Avengers. All of mine have good dihedral on the wings. Perhaps the later issues of some models addressed this problem ? I have seen complaints about this on the P-40's, but my example has correct dihedral. I'm not a fan of the folding ...

Re: Considering a New Direction
Regarding inaccuracies in the 1/18 offerings, has anybody ever posted a complete listing of them all in one place ? I think it would be quite interesting to know about all of them. I am aware of some, but certainly not all. I probably will regret asking this question !! I may be opening a can of wor...

Re: Dremel questions
My only gripe about the Dremel is that it is EXTREMELY under powered. You cannot bear down with it at all. You have to learn very gentle and patient when using it. The thin cutting discs are very fragile, and break easily, so buy plenty if you plan to use them. I am used to using much more powerful ...

Re: bbi F6F - 19 or 35?
Flayrah, the "non-sharkmouth" BBI F6F should have the number 19 on the tail and fuselage. It is the mount of the famed USN ace, Steve Vraciu. This was the first of the two BBI F6Fs. Its major paint flaw is that the kill markings were only included on the left side of the cockpit when they should al...

Re: Bunker Hill Avenger worsening horror w/silver lining
I have used aluminum TIG welding rod with great success. I can be had in 1/16" and 3/32" in the smaller sizes. soft and easy to cut, and works well. I have used the 1/16" size to repair prop blades. Can be had at welding supply shops. Not very expensive, and sold by the pound, which is far more than...

Spiralschnause
I have always been curious about the "Spiralschnause" paint jobs on German aircraft. The Germans seem to be the only ones that painted the spirals on their aircraft spinners, and also sometimes painted the spinners in black and white segments. Does anybody have info on the reason this was done ? My ...

Re: New BBI Knock off Zero ?
Yup, it's a molding of a foam flying model. You can tell by the wide panel lines, and I can also see the opening for the rudder push rod, and the attachment on the rudder for the rod. Not up to our standards, but if it's the only Zero you can get, so be it !!
