Re: Where is everyone?
I'm still lurking in the background. Still haven't gotten to back into building, but keep hoping that something affordable pops up. Can't get into facebook or other social media, prefer the focus of a forum.

Re: Should I build it?
I have a few vintage kits. Old Adams, Renwal and aurora armor. by today's standards, their crappy. Still, I'm not in the hobby as collector, so I am not too obsessed with the potential market value, as much as I am satisfied by the nostalgia they inspire. I have built a couple straight out of the bo...

Re: % of collectors that also build models to supplement the
I built kits since I was 5. Die cast sometimes supplements in the some interest, and dominate in others. I started building 1/144 aircraft, then as work took precedent over hobby, started collecting 1/144 aircraft. Still a mixed bag of both. Do the same with 1/72 German Armor. I do US armor in 1/35,...

Was there around 2004 or 5. Transitioned to this site, and got a rest. Still lurking in the shadows.

I found some of the building block figures at "Fred's". A local discount store. I bought a mistery pack and got z zombie cop.
It is the same size as the dragon 1/35 can-do figures. Haven't found any vehicles.

Re: Just saw the Movie "Fury" (Added Photos and description)
The problem with statistics (in this case kill ratios) they are never taken in context. The early years of the war when germany had less capable tanks compared to their enemies, they had a higher kill ratio. As the war progreses the kill ratio changes but so does the conditions. By 44/45 Germany was...

The disney version is my favorite. Sadly the only version I could find or afford was the halmark release.
X-toys did one in the past, but I could never find one cheap. I did see a resin kit once that was close to three feet long for a similar price as this one.

Re: FURY starring Brad Pitt
I think the scene was realistic as well. My father told me that Tigers could be killed at close range because their turrets traversed slower than american tanks. US armor killed Tigers in sciliy and Italy, mostly with side shots. and don't forget the after action pictures from Kursk with all the tig...

What I love about the movie is that people are actually interested in US armor for a change. There probably hasn't been this much interest in a sherman since "Kelly's Heroes".

Re: Just saw the Movie "Fury"
Saw it Friday. Great film. It's not about the history. It's more aligorical. The transformation from man to beast is universal. Many modern soldiers can empathise with the action. The events could just have easily been told from the iraqi war point of view, but that would have politicized it and wat...

Re: What is in the future of our Beloved 1/8th Scale
I've slowed down conciderably. Hate to abandon the scale, and can't find time to scratchbuild. Encouraged by the new A/C, but I prefer ground vehicles. Started back in 1/24-1/25 scale, but the pickings aren't much better. 1/35 still has a place, but kit prices are soaring. I pick up a bsrgan now and...

Ran across an article about the Berlin Crisis on 1962, and the tail number was listed as a deployed AC. "435 TFS 479 TFW September 19, 1961 to Ramstein AB, Germany from George direct, until January 22, 1962 56-0886, 56-0887, 56-0902, 56-0904, 56-0927, 56-0928, 56-0934*, 56-0935, 56-0936, 56-0938, 57...

The Military has done many studies on the subject. A few are available for free, for example: "A Case Study in the Development of Close Air Support" http://www.afhso.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-100924-035.pdf "A Comparative Look at Air-Ground Support Doctrine and Practice in World War II". Re: New 1:18 Planes & Cannons from China!
I did a little research on "Xiaohaoshou". That is Chinese for "Trumpeter". The article contained the phonetic spelling of the word, not the translation. Trumpeter also makes "Hobby Boss" and "Easy Model", "Triangle", "Fujimi" and "Pit Boss". I wouldn't be surprised if they are "JSI" as well. The Chi...
