According to one of the books I got from the library, the most bombs an F/A-18C can load per pylon/ejector rack, is 2. Cleared weapons that is, I do not think the TER(Triple Ejector Rack) has been cleared.

Topgun is not really a test unit. Topgun is the Naval fighter weapons school which teaches pilots DACM(Dissimilar Air Combat Manuevering) ACM/BFM. They have some aggressor units as well. THey had the F/A-18B you pictured in black. VX-4 originally had the black playboy bunny F-4S and later the F-14A....

12 250 lb'ers would require 3 TER's(triple ejector racks). And aferg, this paint scheme was never painted onto a hornet. See VF-103 jolly rogers transitioned to the 2 seat F/A-18F super hornet. They originally flew the tomcat. The Jolly Rogers Super Hornet has the skull and crossbones and the vagabo...

Mike In regards to the foam A-10 you guys hung up at toyfair....why did you guys put it there? People are speculating, but some of us think it may have been put up there just as a joke. And with combat command, surely the design team has learned lessons from the first wave. WIll anything learned fro...

Mike, At fall toyfair, a black F/A-18 was shown...this time with VFA-103 liveries. You told us a few months back that you would try to get us a black F/A-18 before x mas....is this it? Will it have VFA-103 liveries or was that done for the show? And are we getting black F/A-18 before x mas? And if s...

P-51 I have seen worse......back home the local paper had a picture of some of the mechanics DISMANTLING a F-14D with a chainsaw. SAD indeed! Especially when you know a lot of the D and B airframes still have a lot of flight hours left in their airframes and that the tomcat in itself never reached i...

It is a little bit smaller than the F-15 and F-14. Therefore it might be a bit cheaper to manufacture and tool. It also has less moving surfaces than the F-14. The dual cockpits are the only snag I think they could hit, those might be a bit difficult, especially since the RIO/WSO spot is cramped eno...

Mike will combat command be shown at toyfair? I can't remember if I asked you this before since it is a target line, but if it isn't, is the BBI hotnews system the only way we would know of impending combat command releases? When does the first wave of the spring 2006 line hit? And is the fall wave ...

Better as an interceptor and strike fighter, but hands down the F-8 was the best dogfighter, I can't really put fault on the phantom though, it was made plainly to intercept, the sader was made outright to dogfight. Theres a reason it was called MIG Master! The Philippines also used the F-8. They ha...

jericho I assume you already read that BBI announced a 1/18 A-10 @fall toyfair(heard via figures.com) for release in fall 06, and that the stryofoam one there was indeed a placeholder! So I was right! Well gentlemen thats 1 down, 3 more to go?(TOMCAT, Phantom, Crusader?) I am excited!!! The plane is...

Vulgar not to play devils advocate, I want a phantom a hella lot as well, but The Crusader had the highest KILL ratio! I think its a disservice to any vietnam air war fan NOT get the MIg master and phantom in 1/18!! To me if there is a phantom theres gotta be a sader, plus its cheaper to make! But d...

I gotta be honest,I can't tell what it really is but gentlemen I think what we have here is a teaser for upcoming project. Wow! The glove vanes are only used on the F-14A, but deleted on the F-14B/D. So if you guys eventually make a tomcat, making the later models might save you money since you would not need the glove vane mechanism at all! But the notion of you guys even wanting to implement it in an F-14A(if you guys...

I like it too, it was the best Iron Works cat back then, much lke the tomcat is now.

Not to mention it is historic and has much relevance in the WWII era, and for naval aviation!

Re: Hopeful

While I'm still not completely convinced this will come to production, I am hoping and wishing that BBI or 21C will do it. The Hellcat deserves recognition as a major factor in the US Navys air dominance over Japan. The Hellcat shot down more aircraft and had more aces than the Corsair. Not that I'...

Thanks for the pics! Those look BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Guys remember when I first joined, and asked Mike "Hey how about 1/18 JSF or F-22?", and Mike replied "Lockheed asked us the same thing!"?

Man I hope we get 1/18 versions of the JSF, F-22 and F-117!

To complement an F-14 of course!

naw he's being cryptic again. I think he was mainly saying that in response to the A-10. As in the stuff we see in fall toyfair is a prelude to the realdeal stuff we see in febuary. Since the Hellcat is already displayed with box and all I imagine it is near ready for production. Remember the corsai...
