Re: NEW JSI 1/18 UH-1B – Gun Ship 501st Aviation Battalion
This might shed some light on the high-visibility markings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pe0wkk3Md_0&feature=player_detailpage#t=441 It's from a US Army instruction film which features a target practice run on Oahu. Apparently, it dates back to 1967 (and yes, it includes scantily clad women, too).

Approx. 1:11 scale metal-skin Supermarine Spitfire
Spitfire mit Metallbeplankung (1053) What follows is the BabelFish translation of the German source text: This Spitfire aircraft finished model is like the original with a metal skin. The model has a single and fold-out chassis, a transparent cockpit opening, a detailed cockpit and sophisticated de...

Re: AMPS 2013, Initial Intel
Again this is all based on the sales of their upcoming releases. Yeah, if they would only stop releasing repaints at $140 each... That JSI Sabre repaint must rank up there with some of the worst possible ideas for 1/18 AC, the other obvious one being All-Go's ludicrous strategy: using nude p...

Re: A 1/18th Scale A-10 Tentative Start Date Mid-March ! !
Ok, without any intention of hijacking this thread, let's put it this way, Snake, so you can really grasp the irony of it all: If you could buy this 1:6.25 scale model for $3,695 then re-sell it on eBay at thrice the price you would NOT be arguing that the original price tag is too high (and, yes, f...

Re: A 1/18th Scale A-10 Tentative Start Date Mid-March ! !
The pre-painted Warhog model comes in at $3,695. Why, that's a steal! You just have to sell your inventory of 'exclusive', 'rare', 'super-ultra-hard-to-find' BBI F-18s to buy one. A few more 1/18 scale Hornets and you can buy the complete ordnance/pylon set too. C'mon, Snake, don't be so stingy! :wi...

Dude, your re-selling mass-produced toys on e-Bay at $500-600 a pop, but complain about a highly detailed made-from-scratch 1 : 6.25 Scale A-10 for JUST UNDER $4k? Are you kidding me?

Re: Where's The Red Devil?!?!
Well, Snake, interesting, but I have to sell a lot of stuff to reach the price of a Marauder or a Red Devil plus heavy costs for a C-17 transport to Europe, so if you have time and many F-18 squadrons in reserve, im less anxious. I recall seeing some of these at some German etailers back in the day...

...and here we go again  I think its well understood that this will be an expensive aircraft, all things considered. No more $40 FW-190s. Until more info comes from Merit, its not much use speculating on the costs. The paint scheme will be something to speculate about, though. Merit will like...

Re: merit to release 1/18 Gr.FW-190 A-5 in 2013
The Dauntless is a very nicely detailed model indeed, but some people mentioned that it was a pre-assembled and pre-painted Trumpeter kit (or based on an original Trumpeter kit at any rate). This upcoming release, provided it comes to fruition, will be an all-new prototype/mold designed and produced...

Re: WHERE IS JSI?
Its amazing how most members on here just can't help whinning and bitching about every model produced. From the exhaust on the Dauntless to weathering and gear on the F-14. If these companies were not making anything then the bitching would stop. If companie reps read these boards, I could see why ...

Re: New Merit 1/18 DAUNTLESS DISCUSSION
I have no idea to be honest. Shipping is usually calculated during or after checkout. It's entirely possible that it would be cheaper that way. Not that difficult considering the equivalent price in Euros (i.e. $170 = €136). However, I'd still have to pay a significant amount of money for shipping t...

Re: New Merit 1/18 DAUNTLESS DISCUSSION
Who said anything about a conspiracy? I don't think this can be blamed on some kind of conspiracy. It's etailer greed, pure and simple. Period. Or business as usual in the 1/18 scale market. Err, if anything, taking exchange rates into account the retail price in Europe should be lower. Whethe...

Re: New Merit 1/18 DAUNTLESS DISCUSSION
Well, I can't vouch for the accuracy of the exhaust stains on the model vis-a-vis any real world SBD, but they were certainly more subdued and blurred in the promotional pics, and I certainly liked those better. Accurate or not, they seemed more 'realistic' to me. :? I guess it's just a matter of pe...

Re: New Merit 1/18 DAUNTLESS DISCUSSION
I just found out that a European etailer ( warbirdmodelle.de ) has this model on pre-order for EUR 199 (that's approx. USD 250). I don't think I'm willing to pay that much for a toy (and, yes, the exhaust weathering is extremely toyish and doesn't resemble the promo pics at all). Besides, at...

Obviously fake. Everyone here knows that if All-Go ever partnered with any "major toy manufacturer to produce 1/18 AC's" their first release would invariably be a P-51D repaint.

Re: BBI announces f-18c
So, if these latest developments (price-wise) are any indication, then there's no way the latest P-51 repaint will (should) retail for less than $100, considering the e-Bay and BBI precedents. And yet most of the posters commenting on that thread openly admit that they will only buy the 'American Be...

7) If enough people do buy it, they don't care how many people post saying it's too much or too inaccurate. Most every other company operates essentially the same. Yep. And the 'junkie' mindset probably explains why the prices have been going up significantly ever since the JSI 'Spotcat' hit the sh...

BTW: I have not seen one company that released a repaint for less than the first version so I do not get the argument that a 2nd, 3rd or whatever release should cost the same or (if those arguments I read a thought through) even less because costs of tooling etc. were calculated into the price of t...

The following is an excerpt from a 2010 NYT article titled "As China’s Wages Rise, Export Prices Could Follow": The salaries of factory workers in China are still low compared to those in the United States and Europe: the hourly wage in southern China is only about 75 cents an hour. Re: BBI announces f-18c
Considering the MSRP for BBI's 160th SOAR Blackhawk, which is essentially an inaccurate repaint (of an outdated mold to boot, only with some minor tweaks here and there), the latest F-18 price hike is just par for the course for BBI. But insisting that we call this 'rose' by any other name so it doe...
