Bad Cats is now saying the same thing... DUE TO THE HIGH COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH SHIPPING THIS LARGE PLANE, WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT RETURNS OR EXCHANGES ON THIS ITEM FOR MINOR FIT AND FINISH ISSUES. Methinks this may have something to do with the fact that BCA has already received the Standard Editio...

I guess if they "see nothing wrong" then all of us who are holding out hope for the "later" batches having the problem subdued are just wishful thinking. They will all have spots as bad as the Special Edition. Like Aviatornut said, the production regular version and the special ed at AWOH show both...

They could, at least, acknowledge that they failed miserably with the spotcat weathering and release FREE decals for the F-14 markings, so people can fix the thing themselves. As far as the pilot/RIO set is concerned, it might be a good idea. But why should the retailers go to all the trouble of sto...

I started writing a reply to that one KoF and ended up not posting it. I was going to remind him that part of my combat incentive pays while deployed to Iraq this past year went to paying for the hefty pricetag of the SpotCat. At which point I think I was rambling and had one beer too many. Meh... ...

well for all you guys who want answers and to know why jsi would release such an awful looking item such as this, i sent them an email. so hopefully we can know finally the truth behind what went wronge with the polka dot tomcat, and what they intend to do about it in the future. Uh, you don't real...

Roundels? What you mean, roundels? All I see is some asymmetric decals that don't really deserve that name. :? Seriously, I really can't see how a retailer (MTS in this case) allowed THAT to go out their door. It's a $400 custom (IIRC), for cyring out loud. A monkey with Alzheimer's would ha...

I'd say as long as there's enough depth to the panel lines, there is no need to highlight them, though the light "airbrushing" looks good on my tropical Me-109.

No way it's going to be under $400, given the prices PWP is charging for minor mods of existing AC.

If it’s scurvy, try going the pirate route: Enjoy some rum. As in a quarter gallon of it. Then rub some lime on the spots. Perhaps the patient’s condition will improve. But even if it doesn’t and the polka dots don’t go away, you won’t notice them all that much. If that doesn’t work either, try wear...

what do you mean, "Secondly the WOH special looks the same as the regular production F14 " the regular production one doesn't have as dark 'weathering' from what we've been seen, and told Chances are JSI didn't take any corrective action until after they were notified of the Spotgate fiasco by Meri...

The "eclectic" U.S. paratrooper figures they re-released a while ago (the 21st OMG set) should have clued Merit in as to what they could possibly expect from JSI: http://www.js-int.net/soilder_60099A01.html And, well, you can't make this up: http://www.js-int.net/soilder_60097A06.html Does it look l...

The "unlighted" one appears to be the exact same model portrayed in the pictures Merit released of the standard edition production model. (At least it has indentical paint overspray over the red intake markings).

What I don't get is the "we owe them" mantra. We owe them nothing. These companies are in the business of making a profit. Each and every one of them. To me the question is, if, as some people claim, this thing is underpriced (either because you feel the 'Spotcat', such as it is now, is worth more t...

You guys really think there will be an S-2 version? If they can't recoup their investment, they may have to fold up shop altogether as far as 1/18 is concerned.

hopefully you can, but man it looks like a leopard or some russian or communist paint scheme, good thing i didn't get jsi to do that custom plane, but they did say they could leave off the weathering, but not 1650, bucks. fu.. that!! You can always comission someone to paint one for you. Something ...

It's just a shame, because without the polka dots, the plane would be perfect.

You have to wonder how many people are going to cancel their pre-orders or send back their models now. And what that might entail for the future of JSI. :?

Diego, I share you level of frustation. What a joke by JSI. How can they invest so much in the development and manufacturing and just totally screw up the paint job? I don't ask for much regarding paint jobs by the way. I'm not a rivet counter, etc. That's why I'm pissed beyond belief. But like I s...

"Oh and by the way there were a ton of extras from the show"

Anyone still wonder why?

The pictures are far worse than anything we've been shown before. Can we agree that this was an epic fail or is the jury still out?

Wasn't there some speculation to that effect here a while back when some guy auctioned one on e-Bay? Apparently the anti-glare paint was different (IIRC), or something like that.

At least the afterburners looks real good. Very cool. They should release the special edition through retailers because many collectors may not be able to attend or even know it exists in the first place. Also, having the name of the show stenciled instead of the carrier name is a real detriment to ...
