Re: Leo Models Diecast Aircraft
The Italian Ansaldo WW1 recon plane is one of the nicest in this above average line and it's quite large---slightly larger than a Corgi 1:72nd scale Spit.

Re: Deagostini Legendary Soviet aircraft series frustrating
As can be seen in the link, below, the picture of the "DeAgostini" Spitfire shown by this eBay seller now has the model perched atop what looks like a DeAgostini stand, which is quite different from the IXO stand pictured on the DeA website. Perhaps, it's a redo in a smaller scale as AF postulated. ...

Re: Deagostini Legendary Soviet aircraft series frustrating
I just saw a listing by an eBay seller who claims that the IXO-lookalike Spitfire is a 1:100th scale model. Hmmm! The plot thickens.

Re: Deagostini Legendary Soviet aircraft series frustrating
AF, I took a second look at the Mustang, Spit, etc pictured on the DeAgostini website and all four of the models have exactly the same schemes and markings as the old IXO fighters, plus three of the four seem to be sitting on IXO stands. I'm pretty sure that they are all IXOs ----perhaps licensed pr...

Re: Deagostini Legendary Soviet aircraft series frustrating
I see that this series has now added what appear to be a 1:72nd scale P-51D, Zero, Spitfire and BG-109. The last three are obviously IXOs as can be seen by their stands. Clearly, this is a low cost way to stretch out the series---by adding surplus IXO stock---even when the models don't exactly fit i...

Re: 1/144 aircraft pre-builts????
While the Japanese plastic models, when assembled, tend to be pretty attractive, they often are flimsy and fall apart rather easily. The numerous part work diecast lines, whose products are becoming readily available, are a much better alternative and, often at very comparable prices. But you have t...

Re: Deagostini Legendary Soviet aircraft series frustrating
AF, the I-152--a later version of the I-15 is a 1:72nd scale model. When it came time for the I-15, which is the same size, the idiots at the factory opted for 1:87th.

My thoughts, exactly, AF. This may be a rip-off of the IXO I-16, which also had an outsized windscreen.

Here's a DAF thread with a picture of the Oxford I-16, as shown at the Nuremberg Toy Fair----just scroll down. It's white, not gray, but that may not be the case with the production version:

Re: Ixo Daunltess Opinions
Just to be clear about the IXO SBD, AF, while it is not a total wash out like many IXOs, and the inked panel lines do not look so bad on this model---in my opinion-----the HM version is still a much better buy---at the right price. For example, here's one---in light gray---that can be had fairly che...

Re: Ixo Daunltess Opinions
Except for that thing sticking out from under its tail---easily trimmed off----the IXO SBD, d inked panel lines or not----is one of the best in the series, AF. I don't know how it sits on its gear as mine is displayed on its stand, but its a decent---if not HM quality----looking model.

Re: New Amercom planes appearing? Epap?
The Amercom BF-109 is, most likely, just a copy of the Gemini version, AF. Whitewashing only the sides was a fairly common practice on the Eastern Front. Here's a link to a picture of a BF-109 with its sides whitewashed, but not the upper wings. The idea was to make the plane less visible to other l...

The Hachette single engine fighters are all 1:87th as are certain float planes----the Pete, Rex and Glen. Other float planes---Jake and Paul---plus all of the army and navy attack planes are in 1:100th.
