Hpbby Master To Do A TBD
Just saw a post by HM's William on The Diecast Hanger Pub forum to the effect that a TBD is finally in the works. Though no scale was mentioned, I assume it's 1:72nd. William has also posted some pre-pro pictures. Since I'm not sure whether it's OK to post those here, I didn't, but they look very pr...

During WWI and, especially, WWII, various nations employed models or other representations of aircraft to help their airmen and AA gunners in identifying friendly and enemy planes. Many scales were used, however the British and U.S. forces employed the 1:72nd scale extensively in WWII and this seems...

While I'll probably buy the CC Blenheim as it's a nice model, there's little else in the latest Corgi catalog, which is almost totally geared for the UK market, that appeals to me. Regarding the JU-88 night fighter, just because it's all black, that's no reason to get excited. I'd much rather they c...

The Marushin models can be a pain to assemble and their canopies simply must be glued on to stay in place. Despite the praise heaped upon them---due, in part, to the fact that they are the only diecast option for such models in the 1:48th scale--- the Marushins offer zero cockpit detail and their pa...

Like Snake, my first diecast warbird in the modern era was the FM Spitfire in 1:48th scale, which I bought in response to an ad in "Air & Space" magazine in the early 1990s. As it happened, I was disappointed by the faded appearance of the upper surface paint scheme and some of the markings but othe...

It appears that the right vertical stabilizer on the DO-215 now points straight ahead and they've also got the pitot head bent at a downward angle---both as they should be. So progress is being made. All that remains to be corrected, if they intend to go that far, is the addition of the four small w...

There are two additional sources for 1:72nd scale Panzer MK IVs---both rather dated, of course. Here is a picture showing, from left to right, a CDC Armour model dating back about 14 years and a repainted Matchbox model, which is slightly more recent. These sometimes pop up on eBay, but are no match...

I haven't seen any, and even when one of these model pairings appears in the eBay listings, the pictures are usually pretty bad. You have to take pot luck or wait until some nut---like me----buys one and posts comments/pics, etc.Panzer_M wrote:Are there any images of this Ar 196 floating around the net?

where will you be able to buy these set. I take Euro Markets or UK? I've looked at 1/144 Atlas stuff, but not their 1/72. The 1:144th scale Atlas bomber line is very dated and of poor quality, compared to the recent IXO series in a similar vein. Regarding the current Atlas 1:72nd scale line, the qu...

I frequently mix scales for warbird and armor models and am not wedded to any manufacturer. As a rule, I go the thematic route like the North African desert battles, Pearl Harbor, Battle Of Britain, etc. and select the best models, no matter who makes them, for each theme. Sometimes I replicate scal...

I'm probably the one that let the word out on the Arado. A member of the Diecast Aviation Forum ( DAF ) got in touch with Atlas in response to a query of mine and got a listing in reply that included a Swordfish and Arado 196 pairing. Also, eight other pairs---Atlas offers its models in two-plane se...

Lightening Up A Figarti Stuart
I've had this Figarti Stuart for a while and never liked the overly dark colors or the heavy handed weathering/staining applied to it. So I finally got around to repainting it in a three tone North African desert scheme that you can actually see and added the missing antenna. The first picture shoiw...

HM Adding the F-101 and F-106 To Its Lineup.
According to listings on The Flying Mule's site, Hobby Master is adding new toolings for the F-101 Voodoo and F-106, to join its recently announced F-111 and F-102. The newbies are scheduled for a December release, but a little slippage is to be expected on this.

Hobby Master To Do The F-102 in 1:72nd
Just saw this announced on The Diecast Hangar Pub and by online seller, Pete's Collectibles. Included on the list for an October release is an Australian Aardvark ( F-111 ) , also in 1:72nd, and a Sanford Tuck Spitfire MK I in 1:48th.

In the case of the wing crosses I dulled down the white crosses first and then applied them directly over the black ones. The tails were a different matter, however. Here I carefully matched the paint and used it to cover the white crosses only, not adjacent areas. Once the paint dried overnight, I ...

I have the Easy Model Char Bs and they are excellent buys for the money. I just picked up the two HE-162s and made the necessary corrections ( white, instead of black wing crosses on one model and swastikas not crosses on the tails. This is how they look now:[img][img]http://i635.photobucket.com/alb...
