Russian Dora
This is the same person (I believe) that did a Russian P-40 that was also sold on Ebay not too long ago. While he has talent for repaints, I had to laugh a little at the "serious collector" and "realistic damage" that he put in the writeup. I haven't seen too many exactly round holes from shells lat...

Converting
Here's another alternative....Take the old canopy and sand it smooth. You can then use it as the "plug". Reshape the canopy using card stock or whatever material you wish. Go to Squadron Signal on-line and look for "Thera-Form" clear plastic. You heat it up over a candle and stretch it over the plug...

Corsairs
Mine hangs in my office on the wall with others. I've tried to combine 1/6th scale and 1/18th scale because of limited room. You can't tell from the photos, but there are sutle differences between these and straight-from-the-box versions (both figures and planes). http://pages.sbcglobal.net/ralph.je...

FW-190A
The cowl area of the "A" model was much shorter and alot more round than the "D". The double-row BMW engines were close to the twin Wasp radial engines with a closely contoured cowl. When the Dora was fitted with the Jumo in-line engine, the radiator was situated immediately behind the spinner givin...

New Decals
I stumbled across this while researching some info on another model project. This is a company that specializes in dry-transfer decals and make-it-at-home kits. These work very well and, with a little practise, open a broad and inexpensive way to make any markings as long as it's not bigger that 8X1...

Personally, I like them all. I was recently at the Cavanaugh Museum in Addison, TX. Here's a pic of their TBM in late war all-blue. http://pages.sbcglobal.net/ralph.jeffries/_uimages/AvengerB.jpg I can't get over walking under the chin of the cowling without bumping my head or stooping...and I'm 6'1...

Mercury Capsule
Sorry, but the capsule is 1/24th scale by Cpt Cardboard (yess it's plastic). I got to the general mock-up stage when I found out there's a PE detail set due out soon for the interior. Not going any farther until I get it.....and the rest of the Redstone will be scratch built. If my measurements are ...

I for one would disagree with you Digger. I want to see if 21C has improved on detailing with the "new generation" XD aircraft. And there are plenty of painting and detailing options left for the A6M series. The type 21 pictured in prototype had folding wings...and perhaps more deatail of the Sakaie...

Japanese Aircraft Weapons
Some detail can be found at http://www.dragonsoffire.com/japanese_navy_aircraft_weapons.htm and a small photo of each. The 7.7mm is very close in size to the 308 cal. weapons of US design. In other words, the bullet was close to the M1 Garand round and, therefore, unable to heavily damage American a...

Sandy History
Not to be forgotten should be that the Sandy (AD2 version) served with the Navy during Korea. It started fleet service around 1948 with carrier attack squadrons and went on to an illustrious carrier in VN. Besides the USAF and USN, Sandy's served with the USMC in the CAS role. Should be a multitude ...

Acrylic Paint Thinner
There's several things to use when thinning acrylics. One of the easiest (and cheapest) is windshield washer fluid. Cost pennies and comes in gallon sizes. The same blue stuff you put in your car. There's alcohol (though only a little) in the fluid that shortens drying time for acrylic paints. For t...

Tail Wheel Problem
I have to agree the tailwheel design is a problem, but I disagree that it DOES lock down with a little help. At the end of the arm (opposite the end with the wheel) there is a "C" shaped yoke that locks the gear down when extended all the way. The problem is...the "C" is supposed to engage a cross-b...

Cool!
Best idea I've heard in a long time. This would bridge the gap between model builders and airplane collecters. Start collecting...and build one-ups later. Not one of the released aircraft 21C has set free has less than a dozen variations of a cowl here, a canopy there, tail here, etc....

A few words on "rattle cans" before you try the Huey. Covering already applied decals is not very good. The raised portions of the decal will always show through. ME109E
I'm not real sure about the Emil version. Some of the write-ups on the landing gear problem don't mention a pronounced toe-out. I, unfortunately, never got the E model, just the Gustov you see pictured...and it's being heavily modified from it's original shape. Not shown is work to remove the R2 und...

OK...after drilling out and gluing brass rod, the flap looks like this: http://pages.sbcglobal.net/ralph.jeffries/_uimages/Fwflaps015b.jpg The "U" shaped cuts are then made after marking where the brass crosses the edges of the flap housing. FW 190 Flaps
At first I thought the 190 flaps lowered too...then I promptly broke one off of Red 3 trying. The flaps are held by "T" pieces of plastic moulded into the flaps themselves. The flaps DO NOT lower more than a couple of milimeters, so don't try forcing them or they will break (making pictures as we sp...

Sorry
Sorry guys, and I hate to be picky, but simply resting the gear latch farther down on the strut doesn't do it. All 190's had a very pronounced inward cant to the main struts and and outward cant to the axle/oleo connection so that the wheel was near vertical even though the oleo was canted inward. G...
