I wonder if 21st Century will show a prototype de Havilland Mosquito.

I believe it is a favorite of Roy S.

Those movable shields are there to control the amount of cooling air that enters the engine cowling. The cylinder head temperature can be controlled by opening or closing these shields.

They are open for take off and climb.
They are closed for startup, warm up, low power descents & ground storage.

I concur with tmanthegreat. My first run Wal-Mart Atlantic Avenger with the missing screw plugs has a tight wing hinge and there is no sag with the wings extended. My second run Atlantic avenger (the one with screw plugs and pitot tube pre installed) has hinge joints that are not as tight. The wings...

It’s also interesting to note that the 65th Doolittle Tokyo Raiders reunion is going to be held in San Antonio Texas this April 2007.

Is not the home base of Admiral Toys somewhere in Texas…

Your second and third hints were not prefaced with the "1:18" in the header of the message.

Was this intentional?

I believe the civilian version (Hughes 500) was designed for 4 occupants. The civilian version is certified for single pilot operation. Staying under your maximum gross weight is necessary for vertical take off and vertical landings in zero wind. In zero wind it takes about 20 - 30% more power to ho...

My Admiral 262 was missing a total of 8 screw covers from under the wing.

I just checked my mailbox and...
There were my missing screw cap covers. They are painted the correct color too.

I just wanted to give Admiral some Kudos for the first class customer support.

Based on the clues I think the aircraft is a Piper product. "Piper J-3 CUB" perhaps. Piper did make a lot of light planes for WWII. Read the beginning of Piper's Biography... William Thomas Piper, Sr. was born in 1881 at Knapp Creek, a small village in New York. There his father dabbled both in dair...
